I can't believe no one has mentioned Mansour Bahrami yet. He is considered by many to be the greatest Tennis player of all time!

His career was ruined due to revoloution when they banned tennis so he didn't play Tennis during the best 10 years of his life he says (also he had problems even when he went to France... but I won't spoil the rest of my post! :o). Now he plays in the legends category at the tournament and beats guys who were the champions during his prime (10 years back). His Tennis techniques and skills are unmatched by any Tennis player. Once you see one of his matches you will love Tennis! God I love this guy (in a hetrosexual way off course!)

Some interesting facts about Bahrami

Mansour Bahrami born on April 26, 1956 in Arak, Iran learned to play tennis while working as a ballboy at a Teheran club.
Bahrami has never had a coach in his career.
He, always the showman of the game, is one of tennis´ best-loved players.
Since he could'nt play Tennis in Iran, he went to France in 1983 but there he faced many problems as he lost all of his money in a casino in the first night of his arrival! At the Age of 33! he reached doubles final (w/Eric Winogradsky) at the 1989 French Open.
Made his debut in Åland Classics, and what a debut! He became the favourite in the match against Mats Wilander after some trumendous tennis. Won the title in Paris 1994 and reached the final in Richmond 1998 losing a close match to Connors. In Åland Classics 2000 he showed us why he is one of the tour´s most loved players: In the match against Noah the spectators gave him standing ovations. He finished fourth in the tournament.
Extremly popular among his collegues most of whome have become his close friends ( Conners, Noah, Illie Nastase ) Bahrami has had brilliant results on the Senior Tour. He won the event in Doha, Qatar and finished 6th on the Masters Points Standings.
Despite him being super popular and living there and many offers from the French officials he always refused to play for France and represented Iran, and even now at the AGE OF 50! he is still a member of Iran's team and plays for Iran in the Davis cup!


BTW he has a super hot French wife who is apparantly pretty famous in France.

During the Oscars on the red carpet Isaac Mizrahi was interviewing her and talking to her about the movie when between the interview she said " I speak Farsi and I am persian" , then the hostess threw in a few persian words like "chetori", "Haalet khoobeh"... also just like Shohreh Aghdashloo last year, she made it to Oscar's best dressed list.

Monshipour on the other hand, who boxes for France, still loves Iran. I saw a documentary about him and how helped the people of Bam along with French help when that horrible earthquake hit.
