as a big fan of these guys, glad to see them on your list. but, abba makes dance music, these guys should be labelled as DJ's :).

actually I didnt know these guys till I saw them in a list of iranian celebs outside of Iran on a website, they seemed famous so brought em here. there is also another famous Iranian DJ named DJ Aligator(Ali Movasat) but i dislike him, he's a lil bit creepy .

Mallika Sherawat is Parsi (Persian). So techincally speaking, she's Iranian. ;)

Where do you form these misconceptions from? First Aishwarya Rai, now Mallika Sherawat. Mallika Sherawat has not even an iota of Parsi in her blood. She is pure Hariyanvi, i.e., she hails from the state of Haryana in India.

Here's a bit of her bio (for more check out http://www.santabanta.com/wallpapers/biography.asp?catid=469 (http://www.santabanta.com/wallpapers/biography.asp?catid=469):)

Mallika Sherawat (born Reema Lamba) is an Indian (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/India) actress (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Actor) and model (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Model) who has become the first Indian (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/India) actress to work with Jackie Chan (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jackie_Chan).

She is a well educated actress with a degree in Philosophy (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Philosophy) from Miranda House College (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Miranda_House_College), Delhi University (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Delhi_University).

http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/thumb/1/15/180px-Mallika.jpg (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image:Mallika.jpg) http://en.wikipedia.org/skins/common/images/magnify-clip.png (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image:Mallika.jpg)
Mallika Sherawat

Reema Lamba adopted the screen name of Mallika to avoid confusion with other actresses named Reema. Mallika meaning "empress" is what she likes to call herself. Sherawat is her mother's maiden surname, and adopting the name was an acknowledgement to her mother's support in making Reema an actress.

PS: There are hardly any (notable) parsi actresses in Bollywood. The only remotely Parsi I know in Bollywood is a male actor, John Abraham.

Mallika or Mellika (Melic grass) is a Parsi name, Sherawat sounds Parsi too. But you are right, she is apprently Hariyanvi and her real name is Reema Lamba. Mallika Sherawat is just her screen name which happens to be Parsi.

Many Iranian and Indian words are similar which is why most people get confused often.

And why would India need to care about Persia again? I think the reason is the Mughal dynasty that left Turkey to populate the greener pastures of northern India. Another reason could be the origin of most languages being Sanskrit, the ancient Indian language.

India was conquered and ruled by Persian Empire over and over throughout history as late as 1739 when Nadir Shah of Iran invaded (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nadir_Shah) India and installed a puppet ruler of Moghul/Persian origin. That's why there is heavy Persian influence in many aspects of modern Indian culture from languages to traditions. For example, Taj Mahal (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Taj_Mahal) is the greatest symbol of Persian influence in India.

throughout India's history, they have been conquered over and over.
Everybody has had input into their country except for indians themselves.

indians tend to be a little sensitive about the issue.

Laleh Seddigh, 28, has become Iran's best female race car driver at Tehran event organized by Iran's automobile federation.

Dozens applauded and cheered as the tiny figure in a blue headscarf appeared on the stage.

Laleh Seddigh, a Ph.D. student from Tehran who is also known for her stunning looks, has been nicknamed "a little Schumacher" after the German Formula 1 champion, the BBC report said. Seddigh drives a saloon car.

Seddigh says competing with men is not easy in Iran, but she hopes her example will encourage other women to follow suit "Most of them, I think, are jealous, and I don't care about that," she says. "I am just going and going and hoping to be champion in the next years and I will really try to achieve that goal."
