Yes!
Guys a headsup on the Betis-Real Madrid game. I am a Betis supporter and for now the game will not be televised in Spain and for that matter here in the US of A.
The Betis president Lopera has refused to allow television cameras into the stadium because of non-payment of last years television rights that are still owed to Betis. He is using this game as leverage in his battle and what better game than the Real Madrid game. More people will buy tickets which means a sell out. More season ticket holders will renew their tickets, and all those Madrid fans will be ************ out of luck!
Both sides are still trying to work out the financial details as the game approaches so there is still hope that an agreement can be worked out and the game televised.

I was in Spain for two years...was thinking long and hard whether getting my masters was worth leaving Spain (and la liga)....
...figured that I would probably come back...
And now...this...
LIFE IS GOOD.
(there goes that 4.0....)

Yeah, good news but why not on Fox Sports World Espanol. Juan Carlos was right. New World Spaniards could care less about Spanish culture. Here they rather watch the crappy Mexican League where every game is a disgrace to the career of Antonio Carbajal instead of the best league in the world. I have always insisted that there is bias against La Liga in North America either from the broadcasters or the fans. I mean why is it is shown in Central America but not to Hispanics in the U.S. or Canada. Ridiculous. Especially with the Chilean league on strike.

On Saturday, FSW and Sky Sports (UK) will both show the Betis v Real Madrid match. On Sunday, FSW will show Celta Vigo v Mallorca while Sky Sports will show Atletico Madrid v Sevilla. This would seem to indicate that we may not get the Sky Sports feed for La Liga in the US.
Does anyone know if Sky Sports still has the fantastic two hour La Liga highlights show that they had a few years ago? I would love to see it on FSW if they still produce it in the UK.
Also, I noticed that the games are not currenlty listed on Fox Sports World en Espanol. I wonder if FSI has the spanish language rights to La Liga.

FSI is the holding company for FSW and FSEspanol. If one gets it, the other gets it usually in the U.S. unless there is a specific english language rights contingency in the contract.

I like Max. I tolerate Allan Hopkins but please God, no Christian Miles. Bring on Sky commentary. I'd love to hear Gerry Armstrong again.

This Rocks. Last year I bought the pay-per-view package to watch the Spanish league, and with that only got one match a week. Now I'll get 2 (and with the Saturday matches it means that I'll probably see more of the top teams that often wouldn't play the Sunday matches because of the CL & UEFA matches mid week). I'm stoked!

A couple of years ago I used to tape every La Liga match on ESPN2 they showed at 2am in the middle of the night and watch it the next day, just 'cause the league was so great.
A great winter this shall be...

The question for the winter will be: Will my girlfriend break up with me? If one league has to go then it will be the Bundesliga.

This does not hold true for *this* New World Hispanic. Viva Fox Sports World! Hala Madrid!
I had criticized their decision to drop Dutch league no more Ajax games. But now I see they were saving up for the big money games!

No reason to drop the Bundesliga. I watch the Saturday morning game muted, while listening to QPR and checking the English scores. Multi-tasking my man. Your lady friend will only admire your effective habits.

True enough. I'll give it a try. She sleeps through the Saturday morning match anyway.

Unfortunately, it does not yet look like FSW is going to be giving a Liga highlight show; there isn't one scheduled in the next two weeks. But maybe the halftime show of the Sunday game will will show some goals.
Feel free to suggest that they put a higlight show on (unless they only bought the rights to two games and no higlights):

As for commentators, they should hire that Luis Omar Tapia guy away from ESPN. He gets really into it, and is the Chris Berman of soccer with those nicknames (Harry Potter for Zidane is my fave).
