Bernard Williams foung guilty of taking drugs: I am confused FIFA came down on Rio Ferdinand like a ton of Bricks, and they didnt have any proof that he had taken any drugs in the past nor then. I question does Fifa and the IAAF talk to each other on the subject of Drug taking, isnt this grossly unfair on Ferdinand that a statement from The US Anti-Doping Agency (USADA):-"He received a public warning, in accordance with the IAAF rules for a first offence,it said, and is allowed to compete in the Olympics". I mean for the love of god why didnt Rio Ferdinand get a first warning for not even taking any drugs, sorry but there is either and attitude of American athletes are special so lets not press this case on behalf of the IAAF ( like there seems to be always) or Fifa were deliberatly hard on ManUtd for what reason I dont know.
I DEFY ANYONE TO EXPLAIN THE LOGIC OF WORLD WIDE SPORTS DRUG TAKING PENALISATION, AFTER TODAYS ANNOUNCMENT". I feel sorry for Ferdinand if he reads this pathetic announcement by the US Anti-Doping Agency, and I deplore the IAAF for backing them.
Just to remind you all, Rio Ferdinand got a 8 month ban for missing a drug test he is still not elligable to play until the end of September for ManUtd, I hope B Williams tears his hamstring before his race, lets see if anyone can dissagree with the above reasoning, especially from americans.

This haircut should be enough for Rio to get another 8-month ban:

USADA has been lenient in the past in the face of opposition from the World Anti Doping Agency (WADA) who are of the opinion that if you fail a drugs test or fail to provide a sample for any reason, you are guilty and impose a minimum of a 2 year ban. If the FA have signed are using the WADA criteria then Ferdinand actually got off lightly. If you remember back to when this story first broke, the FA were also under pressure from FIFA who let it be known that if the punishment handed down wasn't severe enough (although I never heard exactly what they thought was severe) then they would impose a further ban. I assume that the FA imposed the 8 month ban at least in part because of FIFA's stance.

There are 2 issues here as far as I can see:
1. As Cannabis doesn't do anything for your performance whty the hell is it banned anyway?
2. Ferdinand's ban is warranted because he missed his test, stupid yes, but there you are. Williams should be subject to the same sanction. It seems that you think that Ferdinand shouldn't have got a ban, where I would argue that they both should. Only the length of the respective bans would be an area for argument for me.
