Now that almost the whole french squad has retired( liza, thuram, desaily) and others getting old (pires now 31, zidane 32, barthez )who do u think is going to replace them.
this is my guess of what the line up for the wc might be ( 4-4-2)
Coupet(lyon) / Frey(parma)
Mendy(PSG) - Mexes(Roma) - gallas(Chel)/zabina(juve) - silvestre(man U)
malounda(lyon) - Viera/dhorasso(milan) -guily(barca) or zidane if he doesn't retire - rothen (PSG)
cisse (liverpool) - henry (Arsenal)

I wouldnt forget the left back from Monaco. His name escapes me now. He is very good, likes to attack, and can fly. Also Pedretti will probably feature in the midfield somehow. Don't know if Malounda will be right mid either. Cisse and Henry, probably, but a lot can change, especially if Anelka comes back into the team and Trez. is always dangerous. This team will probably peak in 6 years at the WC in S. Africa.

zidane if he doesn't retire
I am listening to RMC's broadcast of Monaco's CL game, and
they are saying that Zidane will announce his retirement
from international football tomorrow...
I feel kinda sad about this, I'll miss watching him play with
the national team, I really will.
But...thank's for the memories and looking forward to a "new"
national team.

France's future Left Back is none other than Gael Clichy. If you guys have watched any of the Arsenal games with Clichy...you'd know what I'm talking about and how highly he is rated by everyone in England. He's extremely fast and strong. He played man matches last season as an 18 year old in for Ashley Cole when he was injured or suspended. Impressed everyone. But this season, he's develop an offensive side to his game. If you had watched the last 20 minutes of the Community shield...you'd be like "my God, what a player." He defends surperbly and can beat people off the dribble. He's just as fast as Theirry Henry...well, maybe a wee bit slower. But still, thats comparing the pace on the ball and off to Thierry...impressive huh?
The only problem that might prevent him from reaching the French National side is Ashley Cole. Arsenal already have one of the best left backs in the world in the England international Cole, so what does this mean for Clichy. He needs to hope Cole gets injured or learn to play as a right back for Arsenal.

Clichy is in France U21 squad, IMO he's already good enough for first team.
