Should be longer, but at least its 6 years. In the US an American Football player killed someone while driving drunk at got 90 days in a 'workhouse', then he got areested earlier this year for driving drunk again. That guy should be locked away for life.

He could be in big trouble in prison...it'll certainly make a fictional lie out of Mean Machine.
Terrible situation for all parties re the accident. goodbye Balti - for 6 years at least.

He'll serve 3 so he'll be out by the time he's 31. Does anyone think he'll get a club? Considering he'll be out of shape and not having any match experience.

If he does i'm sure it'd be with a conference team or lower. Or possibly overseas where he wouldn't be targeted as sharply by angry opposition players. What is the Jamaican league like? Or maybe somewhere in SE Asia.

Hughes has thrown away his millionaire lifestyle for one moment of reckless behaviour .what a top dollar clown .
Now he will have to a share a tiny cell with other murderers and all the indignity that goes with it (locked up 23 hours a day ,slopping out ,etc..)

I disagree on "one moment of reckless behaviour" as i think he had an alcohol problem that was building up to circumstances like what has passed. He had a reckless attitude & lifestyle as opposed to one moment of reckless behaviour.
And the judge did say he had a callous attitude toward the victim so you have to question his character ATM.

If you're sentenced to a term of over 5 years you have to serve 2/3's.

I would not surprise me for a club to take a chance on him when he gets out, but it would shock me if it were a club in the Football League...
But it's more likely Hughesie will have to make fixing roofs a full-time occupation.
