Arsenal's Robert Pires has revealed Patrick Vieira has finally decided to quit Highbury and move to Real Madrid.
Arsene Wenger wants Vieira to clarify his future but Pires claims he has already made up his mind to leave.

Pires said: "All the players wanted Patrick to stay but he has made a choice and we respect that. We can all understand why he's decided to go."

"His sale will leave a huge void in the middle of our side but we can adapt to a life without his leadership."

Pires added: "I'd just wish him all the luck in the world at the Bernabeu."

The comments are the most revealing indication yet of the potential next chapter in the ongoing saga.

Wenger has now admitted he would allow Vieira to leave the club - at the right price and if he handed in a transfer request - even though he still wants him to stay.

Monday's Spanish newspapers interpreted those remarks as effectively throwing in the towel, given that Real rarely, if ever, fail to snare their leading transfer target each summer.

Thats bad news . That means Arsenal will probably go for Michael Carrick from West Ham who Pompey were after. Bollox.

I doubt it, no offence to Carrick or Pompey, buts lets face it, if he was realistically a replacement for Vieira, then someone else would of bought him by now......... He's not good enough for us.

Not saying Carrick would replace Viera, just strengthen the mid-field as a fringe player. I hope you`re right and Arsenal decide he`s not good enough but its not looking good from a Pompey perspective. Sky and others say Arsenal are after him but you know what the media is like, they don`t let the truth get in the way of a good story.

Still unsure how to do links on here. The "Advanced " bit looks a bit scarey.

The English Media talk rubbish, always have done and always will do. Much of what has been reported to of been said, is not actually quotes. All Wenger said is that he is a good player. Not quite sure how it's ben blown out of proportion so much.

To put a link in, when clicking on reply, click the pic of the world under 'color', then write in what you want to call the link (Arsenal after Carrick for example), then click ok. The next box (these come up at the top right of the screen) you have to paste the website page there, so copy the skysports address like you have done, and paste it into the little box, click ok and it will all be there.......!!

Hope that helps.

Maybe when Arsenal come down next, I shouldn't just go in and out of the stadium - looks quite nice on the waterfront........

Im not sure if this is going to happen just yet.... On one hand, im sure Arsenal dont want to see Patty go, but i must admit Real usually get their man. This whole Pires thing is pretty confusing too. If he reportedly told the author of his biography this stuff it should be true, but then why did he publicly say that he never said anything like it if its going to be in his book anyways. I dont know what to believe at this point, but i hope he stays, we'll need him if we are to defend our title and do well in the CL. No matter who arsenal would sign to replace him, there really is nobody better at what he does.

Usually being the appropriate word since Emerson preferred Juve and Carvelho went Chelskiing - is Viera 3rd choice? It'll be good when all is settled then we can get on with playing the BG
