I am sure most people in the UK would have heard of this today, but just in case anyone hasn't, today's (Sunday) News of the World newspaper has a free DVD of Fever Pitch enclosed inside the paper. (I am watching it now). For the cost of 75 pence, (just under $1) you can get a copy. Not sure if this deal is being offered on the "worldwide" sales of the newspaper, but if so then check it out. I will buy a few copies to put by for family and friends.

If it is worldwide, remember that it will most likely be region-2 encoded.

What a movie! If you don't have it and love Arsenal, get it.
That reminds me that I'm due for another viewing (I've already got the DVD). It's been a while.

My guess is it won't make it on the few newstands you can find it here in the States, where they rarely give the freebies included over there. Still, great to hear Fever Pitch is out on DVD. Just taped it on IFC, as my old VHS copy was getting worse for the wear...
Tears of joy everytime that film ends, though I wish she'd have let him take that lovely Highbury flat!!!

It's out in the US on DVD. Try www.deepdiscountdvd.com I think I bought it there. Or have someone by you a 75 Pence paper and send the dvd over if you have a region free. Or PM me and I might just have to send off a DVDR copy.

The American version has horrendous cover art - very hard to take the film seriously. I bought a Canadian copy because the cover matches the R2 art.

It really is horrendous, but the movies the same in the end, you just get an ugly cover sitting on your shelf.

True, but I like to loan out films to my friends. Nobody would take it seriously with that T&A cover.

What a nice surprise at the newsagents. Watched it again this morning. I was one of the fortunate ones who made it to Anfield that night. Happy days. :)

Outstanding. Thanks for the link to deepdiscountdvd.com, I had never heard of that. Buying Fever Pitch, Shaolin Soccer and Victory for $33.46 and free shipping.
This cover art on Fever Pitch does make it look like one of those teen T&A movies. I have the movie poster that looks like this:

BOSTON - Even Hollywood couldn't prolong Boston's winning streak.
The Red Sox lost for the first time in 11 games, falling to the Texas Rangers, 8-6, yesterday and missing a chance to pull within 1 1/2 games of the Yankees in the AL East.
With actors Drew Barrymore and Jimmy Fallon seated near the Red Sox on-deck circle as a crew filmed scenes for a movie about Opening Day at Fenway, the streak ended with a little-known righthander stopping the hottest team in the majors for his first big-league win.
On hand to film "Fever Pitch," the two stars changed costumes a handful of times during the game. They jumped up and joined the cheering fans along the first-base line as the Red Sox rallied in the seventh, then again after the Yankees' loss was posted on the scoreboard.

Don't waste your time with the English version of Shaolin Soccer. I've had this movie for about 2 1/2 years on an import and the original one is far better. It's on the Regon 1 version and its like 2o minutes longer.
My favorite part in the original movie is the bar scene. Shoalin Kungfu great really great.

Now you tell me. Thanks. I saw the first 52 minutes tonight before my DVD player died. It was interesting up to then, as long as you don't think it's a soccer movie or something.

I just added Shaolin Soccer to my Netflix queue. I'm guessing it'll be the English version. Is it that bad?

I wouldn't say that. What I saw of it was quirky and kinda funny in a campy sort of way. But I don't think it's worth what I paid for it.

No because the full version is on the same DVD. Just choose the other, but you have to watch it with subtitles. Watch both versions if you'd like and when you see the original cut it will all make more sense.
