There is a kid on my team that loves to make fun of and insult the opposing teams players during the game.
examples:
There is a fat kid that plays for a team called UC strikers (it must be because his parents have deep pockets. seriously the kid is 250 and has no talent) and the kid constantly calls him "blueberry" or "pasa de vaca"s him, and on the way around tells him to lose some pounds.

There is a team called the Utah Blitzz who are mainly made up of latinos, and their names show it "fernando, jose, eduardo, roberto, etc." and the kid on our team isn't racist at all. His dad's even mexican, but he just runs around calling everyone "edjulio" or "hose B (as in there's hose A, and hose B) it's just to get under their skin and make them mad at him.

There's a wanna be beckham on UC strikers that has the same cleats, same hairdo (he shaved it as soon as he found out becks did) and acts like him too. He shot a few over the top, and the kid on our team says "like father like son, eh brooklyn?" and calls him romeo a lot.

The list goes on and on. You can really see how it changes the way a person plays. They don't play like normal, its almost like a wherewolf has been unleashed, and they just run around in rage, seems wierd to me. What do you think about insults like this? are they a part of the beautiful game that should not change, or a part that should be taken away? is there anyone on your team that does this? have you been insulted? what insults do people say?

lol that's hilarious.

anyhow, it's better to keep the mouth shut. The beckham wannabe deserves it though. Quick question- does he talk like becks? dress like becks?

he talks like him and dresses like him. he sewed a real madrid patch on his sleeve (even though the uniform is made by score, and is like a green/purple tie dye thing that makes me wanna puke and laugh all at the same time) and his number is 23

Most ******** like that you'll get a warning or a caution for. I'd send off the kid who was racially taunting the Mexicans.

Calling it "the game inside the game" is pretty offensive. It's hardly sportsmanlike to go out there intending to piss someone off.

It seems funny to me that he does that, because he's half mexican. I disagree with your first comment, however. The ref can only be one place at a time, you could insult and make fun of them all you wanted.

I called it the game inside the game not because I think its a good or important part of it, but because it turns into a game, and its inside the game.

I prefer to keep the game tidy with strong hard challenges and stuff like that, let your football do the talking.

Also if you know anything at all, you don't insult or start on people you don't know, for that reason. One day he's going to insult the wrong person, and the bloke might have an extra short fuse and turn round and knock the kid out. Keep the insults and personal wars to people you know about or know personally.

I'd love to smack that kid you're talking about, things like that are okay in moderation, and when they're only used lightly.

It seems funny to me that he does that, because he's half mexican. It doesn't really matter what his background is - if the other team finds it offensive, it's offensive.

I disagree with your first comment, however. The ref can only be one place at a time, you could insult and make fun of them all you wanted. The referee also has two assistants. Additionally, all the insulted person has to do is tell the referee what was said, and the referee is going to keep a very close eye on that player for the rest of the match.

I just don't think it's neccessary. Players should save that ******** for the parking lot where they'll get what they deserve for slagging people off.

I think as long as you really arent threatening anybody its cool. Hell if was talking ******** to someone Id at least expect them to say something back or show me up with a nutmeg or something. Talking trash is part of the game too and always will be.

In the league I play in I find it part and parcel of most games. I mean my team does not say before a game 'Right, we'll go out for him and him today' we give what we get. If we get insults thrown at us we will not just take it we will give them back, not in a violent way though. If for instance someone on the opposition team purposely has a dig (in terms of physically) at one of our players we wont respond back physically but will have a go at them maybe through some insults and get on with the game, it's there problem if they give it but can't take it.

ya, thats the way it work with this kid. He doesn't start it, but he dishes out twice as much as he gets in the 1st place.

Yep, that's my view on it. I support the more sportsmanship side of the game, as opposed to the insults. I don't think there's a need for it at all in the game.

Nah dude, insulting/making fun of the other team isn't the way to go. Just have a f***ed-up conversation going with your team when the ball is out of play or on the other side of the field, don't really pay attention to the conversation, keep you head in the game just say whatever. Pancakes are a good topic, laundry is a good one too, I remember a conversation last season about how often we take a dump and all the different names for it. The other team will think you're insane and it distracts them, they could even think it disrespectful and get angry. The ref can't do ******** about it either.

Insulting is part or the game. Just know how to talk ******** back without getting caught up in it, that's all. ******** sportsmanship.

i would say that making fun of opposition is totally unnecessary. i always tell my mates to keep their mouths shut when we are on the receiving end. let our football do the talking. if someone insults one of my team-mates, it will only make us more determind to beat them. it will also make us tackle harder, especially to THAT guy, but not in a violent way.

insulting the 250pound guy doesnt benefit you at all, does it? he will have a bigger laugh if his team turn out winners at the end of the game

but then, this game happens all the time......part of the game
