the mercury news has a decent story in wednesday's paper about dom kinnear that previews the quakes game against the mexican champs.
not bad, not bad. kinnear rules.

also there's a story on Landon not getting any calls. doesn't go too deep, just dances around the issue but it's nice that it's brought up and a little analysis is in the paper instead of more profiles. step in the right direction.

Intersting that the article focuses on Dom's experience as a sub for one year in Mexico. Perhaps it's somewhat justified given the America - Quakes match next week, but there's an obvious attempt by the Merc to appeal to fans of Mexican soccer.

Hey, there's a more important match in Pasadena on Saturday!

However, one could also say that the bias is slanted toward getting Mexican fans to know more about the San Jose Earthquakes. "Former American Player in Mexico now Assistant Coach of MLS San Jose Earthquakes." (nudge, nudge).
The priceless quote in this article is:
"I'm surprised that more Mexican teams don't try to get American players, considering how well we do against them in qualifying and in the World Cup.'' Ooooooohhhhh. :D
