View Full Version : Official 2004/5 Very Small Rocks League Thread
Is it just me, or with all the postings by managers in the sister leagues in both threads, doesn't this already have a feel of two equal divisions or perhaps a 12-team league? Seems there is a lot of interest being shown by the veterans to the newbies and by the newbies in the veterans' thread.
There may be some serious competition for which managers get to be in next season's Top division. Even though I posted a minimun of the top two teams in Very Small Rocks would be promoted, I'm now leaning more to a combined table with the top 8 returning managers becoming the Premier League next season. Any opinions?
Of course, all the vets want to see the newbies prove their commitment and stay active. Inactivity would be grounds for exclusion. Inactivity and personal attacks or persistent rudeness to the other managers are about the only offenses that cause us to part company.

I am going to stick to my own division for now. But I am enjoying the interplay between the threads going on. I am also really enjoying the media reports.
On that note, here's to hoping Wayne Rooney can get healthy and produce and that I can move past Kopite's 3rd place prediction and into the upper division.

The more we communicate, the more it definitely feels like its two equal divisions rather than a D1 and a D2. I cant wait for the cup competitions... oh and also to prove all the critics wrong :)
Brian, the media reports are definitely good... keep up the good work!

PRESS RELEASE
FC Springfield manager Ralph Wiggum had an altercation with midfielder Gaixa Mendieta at practice today. Due to his high price and bad attitude, Wiggum was forced to boot Mendieta from the squad, despite his bias for Catalan superstars. As a result of this altercation, a rift developed, with Mendieta receiving support from striker Freedman and midfielder Mulryne. All three received the boot as a result. After placing some calls, and getting team captain Hyypia to put in a good word, FC Springfield is pleased to announce its new recruits

OUT: Freedman, Forward, Crystal Palace, 5.0

PRESS RELEASE

With a large interest shown from media around the world, the draw for the Rock Hard Championship Challenge Cup went smoothly.
Managers of the teams involved were making notes faster than the journalists sent to cover the event and, as yet, no-one has been able to call a Group of Death or predict four favourites for the semi-finals..... let alone put a provisional name on the prestigious trophy.
One thing is certain, the action hots up from Day 1 and will last until the very last game -- in May, 2005.
It's a tricky looking draw, if ever we've seen one, and something that the suits at FIFA would have been proud of.

Due to popular demand , VSR/Div 2 TV will hold a special preview on August 13th , the day before the Premiership opening weekend.
Also , in a popular vote today most voted NO!! to not changing the format between Div 1 & 2. They say it is exciting already with people hoping for promotion and the top managers wanting to avooid the drop from the elite(Div 1).
Just in ! The FA have announced that there will be an interleague cup. This will commmence through the whole season to see who is the best of the best. The first phase is to see who is going to be seeded the best due to their performances.

GILLEN SHOPPING KEANE?
Rumor has it Windsor Wanderers manager Peter Gillen is looking to offload influential midfielder Roy Keane. The Irishman was said to be green with envy when Gillen handed the captain's armband to Robert Pires.
When asked to comment Gillen said, "I'll have a side of fries with that. Oh, and where is the bathroom?"
Neither Keane nor his agent returned our calls asking for comment.

Ryan Giggs’ coolly-taken breakaway goal and a stunning impact on his debut by substitute Liam Miller helped Sir Alex Ferguson’s side to a valuable 2-1 victory, but not before they had survived a scare by Dinamo Bucharest.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Sporting FC-Colombia Coach Wesley Useche is happy that his midfielder ryan giggs scored a essential goal in the qaulification game to the champions league and is sure he will be one of his top goal and point scorers this season in the very small rocks league and hard rocks cup

*****Press release for Association sportive de Saint-Lambert (ex-Mtl United for those who didn't follow)*****
ASSL's gaffer is facing an injury crisis to his midfield as Steed Malbranque will be out of commission for the first few weeks. "We'll wait patiently for Steed as he still represents for us a big part of this team". Also, Laurent Robert is probable with his eye infection meaning ASSL will field a rare 4-3-3 lineup for the weekend.
Manager Fortin is still looking to the transfer market to shuffle his strike force as he's still unconvienced on one of his strikers. Rumors are he contacted Norwich's Nigel Worthington to assess David Bentley's form as ASSL might gamble on the youngster's potential.
Making his best impression of a US draft analyst, Fortin told reporters this morning: "It's all about the upside. UPSIDE!!!" before going away in the distance with a maniacal laugh.
ASSL will post his opening day line-up in the next few hours.
