it appears to me that the 8th place lad quit
he doesnt post he is constantly in last place

and this would benefit other teams more than it would me
it was just a suggestion

Just concentrate on staying first... :)

Hey, Steed, how about one good game... It won't hurt you.

Also, I switch to Hasselbaink as captain. He has a poor game... while ex-captain Lampard shines again (10 pts without a goal).

You know that we're going to use this post against you as soon as you drop first place, maybe as early as next week ;)

The way the transfer window will work.

1. No one can be selected until they are in the database.
2. We don't hold the draft to select the new arrivals until the transfer window closes so all the new arrivals can get in the database.
3. We have two choices for draft order.
A. Picking up where we left off after 15 rounds of the initial draft. This means that the person who drafted last in the odd numbered rounds gets the first draft pick.
B. Go in reverse order of the standings.

I favor (A) as a mid-season way of evening out the previous draft bias. (B) also would have to be adjusted for the points lost in trade somehow.

4. When a newly arrived player is drafted, the acquiring manager also has to announce all the trades necessary to acquire the new player. For example, the new player might cost 10.0 and the manager has to drop two or even three players to create enough cash. At the time of the trade pick, the manager also has to announce who he is releasing into the draft pool, and who else he is selecting from the free agency pool.

5. The next person to draft can choose from the newly arrived players and from the players dumped by managers to acquire the new draftees.

As for what to do with the 8th place team...

First, let's try to get him active again.
Second, we cannot just disperse his team, it would make the interleague competitions unbalanced.
Third, we would try to find another fantasy soccer player who can come in and replace that manager with that team. The newly arrived replacement manager would create a team identical to the 8th place team. A new manager could do that because the team value is under 100. After the new manager created his team and joined the league, as the administrator, I would delete the other team, if I can. If not, he'll still be there, but we'll just ignore him like we ignore my score on the Very Small Rocks table.

If we recruit a new manager, we could also give him the first couple of picks of the transfer window draft or some other incentive.

Fourth, if we cannot recruit another manager, I could create a "league-owned" team as described above and manage that team in the Very Small Rocks League. If that happens, you can bet that his team would change into a more competitive team. It may be hard to climb the table, but the team could still be competitive in the intra, and inter league competitions.

I haven't quit. I've just been terribly busy.

I'd rather be relegated with my overpriced, underachieving 'galacticos'

Hal option A sounds good to me, since that means I would be picking second ;) Then again I dont know about a draft bias... the top four teams in our division were the last four teams in draft order I think.

I also suggest that if we proceed with another live draft that we do it on the weekend, say a Sunday afternoon, and that if he's still active, we cut our losses early and make Ilovecolumbia submit a proxy list ;)

Rookie question: how does the january transfer window work on fantasy premier league's website? Are there unlimited transfers again for the duration of the window, or does it remain one a week? Depending on that answer, may I suggest that before we conduct a second draft all managers indicate which players they are looking to drop so that other managers may propose trades? I see two benefits to this. First, it will help speed up the draft process, and second it will allow managers the flexibility to make some necessary moves before the draft in order to free up space, or acquire existing players that a manager covets if he wishes to remain relatively inactive during the transfer window.

My memory is somewhat fuzzy about the Feb (just after the transfer window closed) draft we had last year. It was almost much ado about nothing.

We didn't even complete two full rounds without everyone passing. The better teams weren't willing to drop proven fantasy scorers for the unproven mid-season replacements who still had to acclimate to their new team. Further, some of the weaker teams didn't have the finances to draft players without a couple of other moves. I think there were 2-3 coveted players and after they were gone, the interest fizzled.

We also hyped ourselves up for the draft, but in the end, it wasn't worth all the effort.

My recommendation is do not wait for the saving draft pick. Rather, improve your squad now; build up your team value now; and look closely at cast-offs from the other manager's transaction to acquire the drafted player.

I also remember a couple of manager's trying to trade a player they were going to release to the free agency pool to free up cash before announcing their draft. This was an attempt to avoid having the released player put into the draft pool and unavailble for normal selection until the mid-season draft was complete. Released players become part of the draft pool for subsequent selection as a manager's draft pick.

Other vets can pitch in here. I don't remember any extra unlimited transfer window. It's not like some of the competitions that have unlimited transfers when switching between the group phase and the knockout phase.

Even if there were one, we didn't hold our draft until after the window closed and the new players were in the database.

Since Ajax FC Rick James stole Downing this morning, FC Springfield goes with plan B for another midfield switch. However, with Arsenal at home to hapless and strikerless Southampton Saturday, I can afford the 4 point penalty :)

OUT: Djorkaeff, Midfield, Blackburn, 7.0
IN: Cahill, Midfield, Everton, 6.9

Wonder if my stats stirred the pot and coerced some managers into action.

Chris T. made 3 moves today and now Andre makes another.

Didn't see Chris post his moves here so I'll do it for him:

Out: Campo, Bolton, 5.6 M
Tugay, Blackburn, 6.0 M

In: Downing, Middlesborough, 5.9 M
Dio, Fulham, 6.0 M

Out: Beattie, Soton, 8.6 F
In: Huckerby, Norwich, 6.7 F

Hal I've probably made more transfers than the rest of the league combined :) Today's move was just another day at the office (and the realization that Djorkaeff and Blackburn will likely get beat bad by a rested Liverpool squad). It is good to see more activity though.

With 2.0 Million in the bank you might want to upgrade your striker force. I think you are committed to hanging onto Van Nistelrooy during his 2 premiership game suspensions, but you might want to drop Stead who has lost his starting place.

Here are some currently available strikers:

Name Team Salary Points Scored

Bellamy** Newcastle** 9.0 42
Boa Morte** Fulham** 7.3 37
Dickov** Blackburn 6.8 35

Lisbie** Charlton** 6.0 27
