I had my battery (currently a 26RVO) and other various work done and drove from my mechanics to the bank to my house and then to Destin (a total of 14 miles). I stopped for lunch at Chick fil a while in Destin. I went back out to the parking lot, attempted to start my car (Mazda 626 LX from '91) and the engine would not even turn over. After trying about four times, the battery went completely dead. So I had her towed back to the mechanics' where they told me the alternator probably needed to be replaced.
I finally got around to calling to check up on her today and I was told that the battery is the problem. The mechanic said they've put a group 35 battery in there while doing diagnostics and she's been starting up w/o hesistation every morning and afternoon.
I called Autozone and several local battery places and they have all told me that 26R and 35 would both work equally well.
Aside from the possibility of the battery being bad, what other problems would there be? Also, why would it be unacceptable to use a 26R if it's approved for my make and model?
