The title sponsors on teams' jerseys seem to change every year. Are there any famous long-term sponsors that are virtually synoymous with a team?
The longest one I'm aware of is "Carlsberg" on the Liverpool shirts since 1993.

Arsenal's deal with JVC dated back to at least 1989. Anyone know how long VfL Wolfsburg have been sponsored by Volkswagen?

Actually, I just read that the JVC deal went for 18 years (1981-1998). Liverpool still needs a way to go to catch up.

Yeah, there was a big to do in the English press when Arse-nal ended their deal with JVC.
Does anybody know anything about South American sponsors?

The longest football shirt sponsorship was Sharpe and Manchester United which partnered for 17 years.

I thought Pirelli owned Inter Milan and Volkswagen owned Wolvesburg. Pirelli does own Inter (or, to be more precise, the Agnelli family owns both). I'm not sure about Volkswagen and Wolfsburg.
Although, a number of companies that own teams don't choose to sponsor them themselves - for example, Fiat don't sponsor Juventus, nor does Canal + sponsor Paris Saint-Germain.

The Agnelli family owns Inter? Are you sure? I know the Agnelli family own Fiat and Juventus. I was under the impression that it was Massimo Moratti who owned Internazionale.
Pirelli hasn't been the official shirt sponsor of Inter for a long time. I remember back in 1994 when Inter won the UEFA Cup with Denis Bergkamp and Wim Jonk that the official sponsor was "Fiorucci."
The longest shirt sponsor? How about the longest period a club has gone on without a shirt sponsor? That club being FC Barcelona. No shirt sponsor will ever deck the 'blaugrana' shirt because it is the club's policy never to compromise the club colors with commercialism. That being said, there are plenty of "behind the scenes" sponsorship with other companies.

And somehow I knew a Barcelona fan would bring up their lack of a sponsor. I believe Athletic Bilbao has you beat.

There has only been one sponsor on the PSV Eindhoven strips: PHILIPS.
I have found pictures of Philips on the PSV strips as early as 1983, which puts the sponsorship at 20 years.

Maybe, but in the name of commercialism they change the home jersey every year or so....

Hummell has been the kit sponsor for the Dannish National team since the late 70's or early 80's. Is this the longest serving kit sponsor for a national team?
