Well after a bloody long night home on the ferry I have finally got time to just write a little bit about Beveren and put the link for the photo's up.

First of all, I have to say the match was dire!! There were about 15 Arsenal fans and we really did wonder why we'd bothered...... Even the players didn't seem to enjoy it. Pennant came out of the dressing room and when he was asked if he'd enjoyed it he said ' nah not at all, it was sh1t'..... (Although he was limping quite heavily so that might have something to do with it)

Well Stuart Taylor had nothing to do all game. In fact the most he moved was when going off at the end, the Arsenal fans shouted (and Highbury regulars will remember this of Seaman) 'Taylor do the twist', and to be fair to the guy he did his best in front of the whole crowd and got a big cheer.

In defense was Lauren, Hoyte, Senderos and a trialist called Christian Swegler from Luciern in Switzerland. Lauren played as he has missed training recently to be with his wife who has just given birth. Hoyte and Senderos in the centre.... Is another Toure in the making? With Taylor's shouting, these two looked very good together and I was surprised at how adaptable Hoyte looked as he was all over the place. Swegler looked energetic and not too out of place. Although he didn't get back on the Arsenal coach at the end, so I presume is not going back to Highbury just yet......

In midfield we had Pennant, Flameni, Cesc and Clichy. Gael looked very comfortable on the left and he has played there before (I think against West Brom in the Carling Cup for one....) He passed well, was good in the tackle and seemed to be enjoying himself. Flameni and Cesc did well in the middle, they won most of the 50-50 balls and got back well. Flameni seems to hold the midfield together quite well, always playing further back so he can receive the ball easily and play a good pass. Cesc preferring to get forward and support the forwards. Pennant seemed to want to run a lot and as I said after maribor, seems to of calmed down on his arrogance.

Up front Aliadiere looked sharp and fast, but Van Persie was a whole other kettle of fish. It struck everyone that he really seems like a pre-madonna on the pitch. If the ball isn't played to his feet all the time he starts moaning and shouting at the other players. I think because he has played at a higher level than most out there, he thinks he is better than everyone else. Yet when he got the ball he did nothing with it. I hope that attitude doesn't last. As for the subs, most didn't play that much and the second half was absolutly awful to watch. Daniel Karbassiyoon did look ok though on the right wing and he posed for a photo afterwards and had a chat with a friend who hails from Chicago who I know.

For Beveren, well we had a chat with a couple of their fans and it turns out 8 of their players were new players who had come from the Ivory Coast, all at the behest of Arsenal!! Amoungst them, Eboue and Manu the recent trialists and looked the best. (the Beveren photo is Manu)

The other photo's are a mixture of training (the blond one with Eddie Niedzwiecki is Christian Swegler), the Arsenal dressing room, pics of the stadium before the match and pics during the match. Hope you all enjoy them....

P.s. Karbassiyoon told us that Frankie Simek has a back injury at the moment.

Rick, how was Senderos' pace? Did he show any ill effects from last season's foot injury?

that's too bad about Frankie Simek :(

Great pictures, Rick. I hope what you saw out of van Persie does not become a habit. Unfortunately what you described though is on par with the stuff Bluedaddy was saying.

Senderos seems ok. He looks very healthy and has lots of pace. The other important thing is that he is still going for every challenge, as an injury can really make people hold back (Pires since his injury).

I certainly hope Blue ends up being wrong about van Persie but if he isn't....he deserves some props.

Great Pictures and the updates yesterday. So this year instead of a signed CL Away ticket from Arsene are you going to try to get a photo at each game...just kidding. Glad to see you made it back, now it's off to Cardiff this weekend. First game on FSW for the season.

Great stuff as ususal Rick. It was good to hear that they are playing folks like Clichy in mid-do you think Arsene is trying people out in these positions in case Paddy leaves? Seeing what the mid-field options are? I like the thought of having a good young mix of guys who can play in mid......

Is it Jermaine Pennant that wears those obnoxious blue shoes?

P.S. More pictures of Cesc next time ok? ;) Thanks~

Henry is the bomb- - he can be a big headed ass if he wants! Can't accuse him of not delivering the goods for the club. RVP has a LOT to prove as he's just gotten here. He needs to be humble first, produce the goods, and THEN get a big head and act like an egomaniacal ass!

As Mad answered its Pennant wearing the blue boots. Ok so ive zoomed in and tweacked a couple of pics so here are some shots of Cesc. Oh and by the way, the reason i didn't get any more shots of him is because he has an absolutly stupid haircut..... Im boycotting him now until he sorts it out........ :D
