EEK
well, my injuries that im dealing with now are NOWHERE NEAR as gruesome as some of the stuff ive read here, but its my worse, and its probably something many soccer players deal with....
i was taking a shot on goal on a turf field during a pick up game...planted my left foot, and kicked with my right (im left footed)...i guess i twisted awkwardly on that foot and heard/felt my knee POP and twist out of the socket then back in. I actually scored that shot lol.
So I go to doctor, and he says, well, i think its a torn meniscus. take it easy for a few weeks, and slowly build back up to light jogging, then to running, then to light dribbling, then to light play, etc.
a month later, im playing every weekend again. a month after that, blocking a shot on goal, i hear it pop AGAIN....go to doctor, again, (two months after first knee twist) he says its a MCL sprain....says i should do physical therapy, should be fine in 6-8 weeks.
10 weeks later, physical therapy, i think, hey its more than enough time! then i go jogging.....took an awkward step, and it hurts like a b!tch. go to doctor THIRD TIME, they take an MRI, and then the doctor says "you have a torn meniscus, a sprained MCL, and an osteo chondyle injury (bone bruise)"
In a month, ill be having an orthoscopic surgery....basicailly, the meniscus is the pad between the bones in your knee....i have a flap hanging out on my meniscus, sort of like a hangnail. they have to cut it off, because its iritating my knee and messing with the smooth motion. i guess the osteo condyl requires the cartiladge to be shaved down a bit because its frayed.
I am soooooo itching to get back to playing soccer, but its going to be AT LEAST 2 more months, after not playing at all since beginning of february.
