Thought this deserved its own thread apart from the Offseason/Death of the Lakers thread ...

Interesting to see where this goes, if anywhere.

My point is that if he remembered he was a married man, and kept his pants zipped, he would not be in this mess.

And my point is that if he didn't invite her up there in the first place there wouldn't be a problem at all.

I think you and I are making the same point. Namely, that he had it in hs power to avoid the problem in the first place.

Also, let us not forget that while Kobe may be a married man, he is also a professional athlete, and by nature, professional athletes cheat on their wives. There's no use in disputing this point or trying to explain it. They just do.

Why does a dog chase its own tail? Why are moths drawn to the flame? Why do professional athletes have unprotected sex with random groupies when hotter, less gold digging alternatives are available? Nobody knows.

Sorry, but that is just a ridiculas statement. Yes, some cheat, maybe most of them. But that does not absolve them or Kobe from the responsibility.

Dogs and moths are animals without a human beings ability to reason.

In any event, Bryant has an attractive wife. He may not have raped the complaintant from a legal standpoint, but he must take responsibility for the fact that he could have avoided the whole thing by not asking the woman up to his room.

And if he had "urges," he should have rented a porno movie.

All except AC Green.

That reminds me. Do you know how Magic got HIV? He was driving through Detroit and he blew a Piston.

Dogs and moths are animals without a human beings ability to reason. Not to get off topic... eh, what the hell. You know, once you get past the opposable digits, language, religion and abstract thought, man's advantage over the rest of the animal kingdom is vastly overrated.

If you study any groups of animals, it's amazing how rational, unselfish and even ethical they can be, especially when contrasted with self-destructive or anti-social things humans often do. My point is, I have no idea what my point is. Except that athletes should know better, but they do dumb ******** anyway.

All except AC Green.I feel sorry for the lady that married him. She had to teach him everything!
"Okay AC, follow closely now. Don't stop what you're doing with that hand, move the other one up, unhook the... wait, you don't know how... oh right."
That reminds me. Do you know how Magic got HIV? He was driving through Detroit and he blew a Piston.Terrible, just terrible. I love it.

to anthony:

it means nothing whether he is married or not. cheating is an issue between he and his wife. remember he is being tried for rape, not infidelity (sp?).

i didn't know he had unprotected sex though, that is dumb.

Oh, I have no idea whether Kobe was playing shirts or skins. But I was speaking more to the culture of casual sex among professional athletes in general rather than Kobe specifically, and judging by the number of illegitmate children of pro ballers out there, unprotected sex seems to be a popular off-court activity.

OK. Try to follow.

If he did not cheat on his wife, he would not be tried for rape right now.

If he did not invite her up to his room, if he did not have sex with her, he would not be on trial for rape right now.

Yes, infidelity is not a crime. But fidelity is a preventative to avoiding be on trial for rape.
