it's complicated... initially, the clubs of serie A and B had agreed to fractionate the matches so that the tv rights were more appelaing to pay tvs who offer them live

then came the agreement for highlights on public tv,but RAI requested that at least 6 matches were played at 3.00 pm Sunday every Sunday (when serie A stops, serie B will accomodate that request),and that's for the next 3 years

but the scheduled for the first fixture had already been finalized and could not be changed due to organizational issue, hence the "wierd" starting times

A second half double from Argentine striker Julio Cruz gave Bologna a shock 2-1 win over AS Roma on Saturday, the opening day of the Italian Serie A season.

But Inter Milan made a winning start with a 23rd minute Christian Vieri header secured a 1-0 home win over Torino, who were forced to play the second half with 10 men after Gianluca Comotto was sent off.

Jees, Milan are looking good. So are Inter. Haha, Roma. I think one of the Milan clubs will win it. I think it'll be Inter, and Milan will probably get to the final against Real in the CL and win or lose...

Pick up this month's World Soccer if you can. It has a good Serie A preview and all the clubs' rosters.

As well as a CL preview.

Early Sunday games:

Juventus 3 Atalanta 0 (surprisingly easy)
Lazio 2 Chievo 3 (surprise, period! - wanna edit that prediction thread about Chievo going down, soccerfan220? :))
Udinese 1 Parma 1 (not a surprise)

And suprisingly boring! ;) Well, maybe if you're not a Juve fan.

Yep. Lazio are going no where. Did you hear about Eriberto?lol, his real name is Luciano and he is 27. He registered under someone else or something. Lazio have good enough players to do something, but they probably won't. Maybe they'll be the next Fiorentina, but I won't go that low just yet.

Lazio need to give themselves a good shake down or there going to end up like Fiorentina. I pray they wont but if they carry on the way they are this season is going to be a very dificult one.

Yeah, looking good. I couldn't believe my eyes. Actually, I missed the game due to heavy rains here this morning. One of the drawbacks of Dish. Normally not this bad, but some trees have apparently grown and reduced our signal strength .... we're waiting until the leaves come off to verify that that's really the problem.

As for Lazio, soccerfan220, you predicted them to finish in the top 6 in the same thread where you said Chievo was going down!!! :) Of course, my pick of Brescia and Atalanta for UEFA Cup berths isn't looking too great either.

Say, what happened to the "power shift" from the Northern Cities to the South (well, Rome) that all the pundits were talking about a couple years back?
