Why I love La Liga . . .
Who says logic has no place in the business of soccer? A survey of shirt sponsorships by Sport+Market AG shows that even though Spain is considered the strongest domestic league in Europe, shirt sponsorship hasn’t caught up.
Basically, it’s common knowledge among the type of major companies that pay millions to advertise on soccer shirts that putting their logo on one La Liga shirt guarantees supporters of all the other Spanish clubs will ignore their product. Which, when you think about it, makes a lot of sense.

It happens in England too, but usually only a few rival fans won't buy the product.
Some Tottenham fans won't join O2 phone network now because of Arsenal.
It's a small minority though, so sponsorship is still big. Man Utd are getting 300 million over 10 years I believe.

I've heard it's the same in America with NASCAR sponsorships. Very loyal. Dumb hicks.

I'll admit to a period of time where I wouldn't buy anything made by Sharp.

I have to admit that I have given up Dorito's since they started sponsoring Wolves.

NASCAR is out of hand. 85% brand loyalty. Meaning 85% of fans will use the products that sponsor their favorite driver.

I steer well clear of all Vodaphone stuff - whatever it is they do.
That whole notion makes sense though when you're talking about rabid, loyal fans who take things too far.
I don't own a Honda. Why would that be?

Because your 34/35 years old and live in Texas, so you have to drive a 4-wheel drive pickup with a gun rack. Did I guess right?

I won't buy anything made in Catalunya. ;)
Seriously, though, I wouldn't buy Nike, at all, if they didn't sponsor Chicago. This problem looks to be remedied soon, however.
