Well, if there's only one place to believe rumors about American baseball trades, it's a liberal UK newspaper. I guess it's a done deal
I've heard it could the Cardinals...

When did Randy have a falling out with Curt? I read that Curt tried calling him and he said something like "There's a reason why I change my number" or close to that. Anyone know why there's animosity between the two?
All I know is that I hope the Big Unit doesn't go to the Bronx Zoo. The Mets were in the rumor mill but I doubt that they'd land him. Apparently, Piazza and Glavine did some lobbying during the All-Star game and gave him some reasons as to why he would like the Mets. But David Wright, our top prospect starts his first game tonight and Duquette is pretty clear that he isn't gonna trade away our future stars, especially for a 40 yr old, although that's one damn good 40 yr old.

That was a joke.

Has anyone heard anything else about the Dodgers getting Carlos Delgado. After Delgado told the 'Jays he'd accept a trade, the rumors died down.

The $$$$ don't make sense.
The Dodgers already have to pay Shawn Green $16M and Darren Dreifort $13M next year and have to try to find money for Beltre, Gagne and O. Perez.
It doesn't make sense to deal for a guy on the downside that makes that much.

There was a rumor that Jay Payton would be traded to Boston for Derek Lowe. That won't happen though ;)

Surprised this thread's dead; the hot stove is flaming right now.
On his weekly radio segment, Giants C AJ Pierczynski just announced the Giants traded hard-throwing righty setup guy Felix Rodriguez to Philly for Ricky Ledee and a minor league pitcher.
Also, the Mets have been busy. In one trade, they sent Ty Wiggington, Jose Bautista and Matt Peterson to Pittsburgh for Kris Benson and Jeff Keppinger (never heard of him). In another, they sent Scott Kazmir and Jose Diaz to TB for Victor Zambrano and Bartolome Fortunato (never heard of him).
The potential trade that has the Bay Area radio hacks' panties in a wad is that the Dodgers apparently sent Paul LoDuca, Juan Encarnacion and Guillermo Mota to Florida for Hee Seop Choi, Brad Penny and somebody else. The Dodgers also picked up Charles Johnson from the Rockies for a minor leaguer. But what has everybody freaked out is the rumor that the Dodgers are trading at least one of the guys from Florida (Brad Penny, perhaps with some prospects) to the Diamondbacks for Randy Johnson and Steve Finley. That could certainly impact the power balance of the NL West, but the announcers here seem to think LoDuca is the heart and soul of the Dodgers. FWiW, Johnson and Finley are in the lineup for Arizona tonight, so nothing's happening today.

Johnson tonight in Denver:
Gave up a leadoff hit, retired the next 18, then got lit up for 4 runs in the seventh. He goes to the Dodgers though, look out. Any Red Sox-Yankees feuding may be for naught.

Hate to see Wiggy go. Guy is always giving 110% on the field and I can see him being a leader of a ballclub in a few years. Too bad it's for the Bucs. He'll be missed. But hopefully adding Benson will bring some stability to the Mets rotation. That and his smoking hot wife. Oh man. As for Zambrano, I hate to lose Kazmir. I mean for chrissakes, we actually had a decent farm system and Kazmir was almost untouchable. Would've been nice to see him start for the Mets in a couple of years. I guess Duquette is doing this to make a run at the playoffs so we can play "meaningful" games in September. All I know is that this better work out or I've lost complete confidence in the Mets front office. Oh, and they lost to Atlanta. Hooray!

Nomar's been traded. We haven't yet heard what we're getting in return. Hopefully a combination of Nick Johnson, Matt Clement, and Orlando Cabrera.
I now have an obsolete Red Sox jersey, less than two months after I got it. Who knew?

The Marlins get pitcher Ismael Valdez from San Diego. That means Sterling Hithcock will get his job back when he returns to the Padres from the DL in about a week :D

So he goes from a "cursed" team to an even more "cursed" team. All in all though this maybe be too little to late for the Cubs.
