What match-up would you most like to see in WC Germany '06?

Since FIFA rules and regulations forbid us from ever meeting in the finals, I'd hope for Brazil/Argentina to meet in the semi-finals, with both sides at 100% health. No other match would beat this.

Germany vs England
Brazil vs Argentina

They'll all be great.

?

There were lots of possibilities of Brazil and Argentina meeting in the WC final match, and there will be again.

It's the luck of the draw, results of each year, the fact that one chokes when the other doesn't, and the fact that they are usually seeded teams that have kept them apart for the most part. They did meet in the 1978 World Cup second round group match when they had that scoreless draw.

With respect, don't I detect a hint of paranoia in the last few days of posts? I lived in Colombia after the 1994 own goal, and though there were a lot of various rumours about Escobar's shooting, a ridiculous one about pay-off by the US was never one of them.

Australia v England, should both get into the WC Finals.

This would definitely take away all the bullsh!t excuses about "meaningless friendlies" between the two countries, emanating from the 3-1 defeat of ENG by AUS last season.

If we should play you in the WC finals then we would beat you easily.

"Meaningless friendlies" = Whenever you beat us at cricket.

USA and England. I can't wait because the US is ranked 4 or so spots ahead on the FIFA/Coca-Cola World Rankings. I can't wait for the US to prove themselves.

USA-England

I really think it will be a good game and since our countries have a bit of a connection it'll be entertaining to all.

Its always entertaining to see Argentina battle it out with Brazil. Brazil is one of the best now and figuere to be highly ranked in 2006 too. They have a lot of talent and it would be a great showdown match.

But I would also like to see England versus France or England versus Brazil too.

I always look forward to the derbies (e.g. Spain-Portugal, Argentina-Uruguay, US-Mexico), the politically charged encounters (such as US-Iran or Turkey-Greece) and the postcolonial matchups (like France-Cameroon, England-Australia, Holland-South Africa, Portugal-Brazil). Here's hoping Germany 06 serves up plenty of those.

When Iran wins Asia 2004, we will play them in Germany, hopefully.
