Why do people not like Belgian soccer (Belgian meaning the national team)?

I didn't know anyone (apart from possibly the Dutch) seriously disliked the Belgian side. Having said that they haven't always been the most entertaining side to watch, so they probably wouldn't be the first choice for a neutral to go and watch.

First, it a small nation so it's not every popular.
Second, they're in the shadows of Holland who play very stylish.
Third, they've been rated as boring for many years. The only times you could say they were worth watching were Mexico 86 (especially against the USSR) and Italia 90 ( they should have bet England.)

I love Belgian Waffle and belgian potato fries.
Belgian soccer was great in 86 and 90, especially Scifo Ceulemans Preu d'homme and Grun played.
Belgium must at least teams like Japan or China in order to regain respect

I like Belgian foods and belgian comics ( Smurfs and Tintin) more than Belgian soccer.
Belgium is a great peaceful country.

I do like them! The Belgians hate the Dutch but the Dutch rather like the Belgians, I for one always like to see them do well.

I think Belgium is a very good team, they where pretty impressive in WC02.

Although they lost in World Cup of Two Thousand and Two, impression please myself. In last match of Round Robin, midfielder header went twenty five yards of goal kick. Action went right to striker who control and pass to other. A quick thigh trap into shot for score. Turn of events, might have been best play in cup. A few mistake. Them out. Tough break. The guy who thigh trap. He had nice physique about himself.
