I Would bet my money on the Golden Boy, howevere knowing how corrupt Boxing can be i can see el Ferroz getting a win, that is unless Oscar decided he no longer wants to retire :)

Oscar is not doing this fight for the money since he is already rich beyond his wildest dreams. He wants to shut that pendejo's mouth. I say Oscar takes it, but you never know with the corruption.
I am up for a straight up bet on this one and I take De La Hoya. Any takers?

i can also see a De La Hoya loss in the future for the sole purpose of a rematch. If Oscar wins that's the end of Bob Arum's cash cow, nobody will want to see Vargas get jacked up a second time for $40 after the first pounding. De La Hoya is hands down a better fighter offensively and defensively. Although both have a 'glass jaw' Vargas' is more fragile and his defense sucks.
Prediction: Vargas for all the wrong reasons:( plus when Oscar loses first thing he will do is blame Arum for rushing fight day and not letting his broken hand heal properly.

Also remember that thing with Oscar in Ensenada or La Paz. It kind of slowly went away. First it was postponed dates than more time for defense then all nothing. Too me it kind of seemed shady to begin with filing suit two years after the fact.

If de la hoya wants to box, he will win.
If Vargas makes him fight, he will win.
Vargas is stronger and harder hitter, so golden boy better keep him moving and dance to victory. Then again, I have seen de la hoya dance a bit in his video so he might be toast. :D
Who knows who would get any type of decision. I saw de la hoya get robbed against trinidad. His only two losses came from points. Good chin.
I hope de la hoya doesn't try mixing his styles again.

yeah...
A lot of people are giving Vargas too much credit for his power... Trinidad hit harde and de la Hoya was able to maintain...
I think vargas will forget to box... after all it is a boxing match... de la hoya will be the smarter fighter... and I think he will wear him down and then go for the knock down in the later rounds...
de la hoya did get robbed against tito...
but.... the one who really got robbed was the Mexican boxer whpo fought Mayweather... the rematch is i think is next month... i want to watch tham one as well

Or what about the Mexican that lost to Macho Camacho Jr? Camacho JR is a joke. He, Hamed, Vargas, Paez, and Tyson all come from the clown school of boxing.

I think De La Hoya will win. He's got a decent chin, he's a better boxer then Vargas, plus he's not driven by pure hatred....

Hold on there, bud. Jorge Paez was a great fighter. His problem was one of dedication. When he came fit to fight, he was unbelievable. But he partied too much and relied on his talents too much. Remember when de la Hoya destroyed him? I'm not saying he took a pay day to get his butt kicked. By the look on his face, he seemed to realize when he looked across the ring that he wasn't ready and was going to get dumped.
Now, normally, I wouldn't defend a clown. But like my dad said, and this is a Mexicano from Guadalajara telling me this--he's a clown, but that's because he was a real clown, not an idiot clown like Camacho and the "Prince".
By the way, Maromero would've made a great kickboxer.
Okay, back to the topic. If Vargas comes out to throw heavy blows, he'll have to knock out de la Hoya. He seems to punch himself out. Getting close would be his best chance, unless de la Hoya can get his uppercut/hook, his "45" working.
For de la Hoya, all he has to do is make sure Vargas is close enough to get socked at the end of a straight right hand. Everytime he's gotten hurt, it's been at the end of a straight right hand. He sees it coming, but he can't get out of it's way. And his chin isn't that good. Just like Tyson. And Hearns. Hit him hard and it's over. Get scared of him and back up and its over for you.
de la Hoya by TKO. What's the line in Vegas?

I don't want to see it because I like the golden boy wonder, but Vargas is a different kind of animal and might absolutely kick the livin sh!t out of De la Hoya. Oscar doesn't have the best jaw and is 3yrs removed from being on top of his game. He's had 3yrs of commercials, girls, big houses far from East LA, and spots on Domingo Deportiva playing a freakin trumpet in that stupid mariachi get up to soften him up. He's managed to duck some great boxers while Vargas has been stewing and wanting that big name notch on his belt. 8th round KO.
I'm so pumped, I can hardly breath.

No way in hell is Vargas 5"10 if you remember the Trindad fight there was a very noticable height difference and Trinidad is 5"11 all he did to keep Vargas' power in check was keep landing the solid jab.
Did anyone catch the memorable interview they did with Oscar(around early-mid 93)on an LA morning show when he had just barely bought a new house in Whittier. He was giving the house tour when they catch Pops hitting the sauce at 9:00 am on a Tuesday!

I am dissapointed in Vargas. He talks to much sh'it for all the wrong reasons. My feeling is that he was rushed to fight Trinidad. If Vargas would have been better managed he would still be undefeated, instead he cant get a fight and has to once again fight a better boxer. I dont see what good another defeat will do him :(
If he loses, which im guessing he will. This will pretty much be it for him in term of Hype. I hear theres this kid down in Mexico about 16yrs old, hes getting hyped up as the next best thing. If only Mexico made footy players like they do Boxers, and i dont mean the hacking. Coby must still remeber Marquez.. I mean talentwise :D

Oscar has chosen Vargas to set his "BIG COMEBACK" to boxing, i wouldn't be surprised if it vargas loses and it were all planned...
I can see it now... " DE LA HOYA IS BACK!"
"THE GOLDEN BOY RETURNS!"
another big money making scheme with
all the hyped up slogans and sh!t... boxing is so currupt it makes bigsoccer look like Dan Quayle. :p

Favored by who ??? Vargas never really did defeat any big name Boxers. I still think if his managers would have scheduled his fights better, Vargas would be kicking Trinidads ass right about now.
