Is there really any difference between a high priced "Match Ball" and just another ball you buy from adidas or so? What really could drive the price up so high?

Having played with your average $30 adidas ball and $100+ adidas ball, I would say the more expensive match balls tend to be more lively and responsive.

The difference is probably the quality of material put into the balls. For example the $30 ball my have a Butyl bladder, while the other ball may have a latex blatter. The more expesive ball may have the "latest - high-tech" cover, etc.

I still don't believe any ball is actually worth $100+.

I think that as long as you get a FIFA inspected ball, you'll be okay. Heck, you can get a FIFA approved ball (Which meet all qualifications for play in FIFA events) for about $40. http://www.bigtoe.com/cgi-bin/sgin0101.exe?FNM=00&T1=70+652711+4&UID=2108072810511673&GEN0=_nequip.htm&GEN1=Equipment&GEN2=Balls&GEN3=e1&GEN4=Y

I just recently bought the euro 2004 match ball and i usually like to play with the adidas tango balls but the Rotiero is by far the most responsive ball i have ever hit and it was worth the money
