I'm one of approximately 7 or 8 people that get Adelphia's soccer show, and got to watch their broadcast of the Open Cup game last night (their equipment isn't that good, but it was watchable).

Anyway, here are some of the things I came away with...

1. Stokes didn't play as poorly as I originally thought when I was at the game. Yes, he blew it on the 2nd goal, which is bad enough, but he did well w/ the ball at his feet and was actively involved in set pieces. His passing wasn't horrible either.

2. Adu was the best player on the field. Nice corner kick to set up DC's goal, and the shot that hit the crossbar he created out of nothing...all the announcer could say was "Wow!"

3. Kovalenko had no interest in playing, as he fought with every Kicker or official on the field. That said, he was blatantly pulled down in the box in the first half and DC deserved a penalty.

4. Petke has really lost it this year. I hate to say it because I like the guy and think he's a class act, but he got burned so badly on the first goal, and got turned and wrong-footed all night by Richmond players.

5. Kevin Ara has shown me exactly NOTHING in the few chances he's had to play this season.

6. DC's slow backline will kill them the rest of the season. Richmond had no problem getting behind them on numerous occasions. Granted, Richmond has better team speed than 90% of the rest of the A-League, but it's obvious what Richmond's plan was, and it worked.

Overall, DC didn't play poorly, and had several chances, 3 or 4 of which were sitters that Roy Lassiter might have finished. They just fell victim to Richmond's counterattacks...gee, where have we heard that before? :)

Cephas was the best player on the field that night, Adu was no. 2. I was impressed by Freddy though, he is going to be really special when he gets some experience. Considering your injury/roster situation, if I was Nowak I would be letting Adu play every minute at this point to boost his confidence and experience level, getting you that much closer to next season when he may be able to really make a difference.

like many have said...one of the worst dc united performances by a player EVER
