I think this will be a good partnership, getting a young guy in there to get this team back on track.

This is a HUGE risk by the German Football Federation.Klinsmann has NO COACHING EXPERIENCE!!!! He hasn't even been a lit bit involved with football since he retired. He owns and operates a sport management company in California(West Coast of the USA).A sport management company is A LOT DIFFERENT then managing an ENTIRE nation as well as playing on homesoil!!
Talk about pressure. But, even though he was a Sp*r player, I really hope he does well and Germany put an extraordinary showing at the next World Cup.

But thats what Germany needs to do now, take a risk!

I don't think Klinsmann's inexperience will be a problem if they get Osieck. He was the coach of the 1990 WC team, afterall.

It seems like they're taking a lateral step with this. I don't see how Klinsmann will be any better than Rudi Voeller, maybe it might have been better to get Lothar.
ON a separate note I think that it's cool to have two assistamt coaches, Oliver Bierhoff one of my favorites, and a veteran like Holger Olisek or whatever his name is.

agree with you completely, even though it think it still would have been better to bring in a foreigner to change the whole system around after the horrible showing in portugal.
it was hard to come away with many positives from that, except for the fact that ballack is one of the best players in the world
germany needs a coach (and also players) to bring back some scoring and imagination, because the current situation is just not working at all

Right now in Germany's Crisis all it comes down to is goal scorers. The coach didn't matter. Rudi Voeller could still have been coach for the 2006 campaign. I think that Germany needs goalscorers. Hopefully Ben Auer and Ben Lauth can make an impact, and I hope that Klinsmann and Bierhoff can train Klose and Podolski to their prime. Our midfield is world class if u think about it.
Schneider(my favorite) Ballack Deisler Frings
I thknk that's a good Midfield, a "golden midfield" if you will.
Our Defense is rock solid as well.
Friedrich/Rahn Baumann Metzelder Lahm
Our goalies are good as well:
Kahn/Hildebrand/Lehmann/Rost/Butt.....
You can't say our players suck. You can't say our coach sucks, although i think it was his error against latvia, other than that Voeller was fine.
Our germans can still play, they are just in a batch of bad luck right now and need someone to lead them to the top. Can Klinsmann do that? With the help of Bierhoff and Osieck, maybe. Lets wait and see, but at the end of the day we were missing strikers in portugal, that's all. We did better in 2004 than we did in 2000. Maybe that is foreshadowing for us doing better in 2006 than we did in 2002 :)

Klinsmann is going to do a fantastic job as along as he has a GREAT backroom staff.

THis is the line up I would go with for 2006:
--------Hildebrand--------
Hinkel--Friedrich--Metzelder--Lahm
Deisler--Ballack--Schweinsteiger--Frings
------Podolski---Kuranyi-----
Very young team with lots of potential. If trained and prepared correctly until then I thin it's a winning line up.

I like that one, without veterans. Young and talented team with enough international experience. I really hope Klinsmann will change anything.
IMO Germany has enough young talented players who don't play boring defense soccer. The current and upcomming players are able to play good looking offensive soccer, but are also very disciplined in the defense.

Smart MF formation...Not because I am a Bayern supporter, but due to the simple fact that the formation listed will have two BL seasons playing together prior to the WC 2006. Should be clicking nicely without any further injuries...
Great DF formation also, but I still am very nervous about the attackers, unless someone by 2006 starts performing consistantly.
Let's hope Timo is a no-brainer for Klinsi...OK is starting to become a pest at both club and country level.

Having seen Osieck work his magic , all I can say is ouf! Germany just dodged a bullet...
Osieck's reign in Canada was catastrophic (bar the Gold Cup win, but then who really cares...) as he was ousted on a coup by players that had enough of him.

I am not familier with Osieck's reign in Canada, what exactly was the problem?

Not sure whether Metzelder can make it back. Are we talking about the same Metzelder?

I like your line-up a lot too but I see two problems.
Firstly and sadly god knows if Metzelder will EVER be able to make a real comeback. At least not soon enough for the WC06. Personally, I'm deeply saddened by this coz I'm a big fan of Metzelder and believe he's one of the best defender in the WORLD.
Secondly Podolski looks determined to with stay relegated Cologne. Even tho I admire his loyalty I also think this could affect his development as a professsional player. Why arent bigger clubs like Bayern trying harder to grab this great talent? Instead Bayern bought Hashemian???!!!!
