...the Indiana University product has become a notable force in United's midfield, where he has terrorized opponents with his unmatched fervor and relentless style of play.
Not sure why but I find that amusing.

I don't know if I likethe use of the word 'terrorize' in that context.
Harrass, intimidate; infuriate, dominate, yes...terrorize? Is he really that scary..NO of course not..

I'm really not big on the whole PC, watch what word you use because the PC police in the grey suits will come get you thing, but I will admit that word bugs me. There's no real reason to use it in that context (and honestly, I've probably been guilty of it before, as well). The vocabulary offers plenty of alternatives.
I can remember one of our sister papers back when I was in journalism, during the whole sniper saga used a headline (and I'm changing the team nickname because, well, I can't remember it) "Tigers shoot down Owls."
EDIT: In fact, looking at it again, I think "infuriate" would be the perfect word there.

Well if youre from Dallas :D
Then the correct phrase would be toy with opponents.

FWIW, I saw this article (http://www.ussoccerplayers.com/players/440787.html) about Boby Rhine, and Dema is attributed with a making a vicious two-footed tackle to break Rhine's leg. The author also makes some nice references to Taylor breaking Theisman's leg on the same field.
Strangely, I don't remember the incident quite like that.

That would be quite fitting after that 5-1 thrashing. Good thing our national teamer felt sorry for you guys and spared a few (but only a few) of the many blushes. HaHaHaHa.
Sorry couldn't resist. Good luck.

Oh, it's just so good to see the Burn out of the bottom of the division! The Burn has been at the bottom for so long. :)

Yes, very funny. I expected as much but was a little bored here at work and decided to support a little MLS smack talk. Done now and no feelings hurt. Best of luck to your trainer, I always enjoy when a team gets to blood some rookies, but not all at the same time. I'll be cheering you on against Chicago.
