i think this is awesome and i hope they make it to the final - the biggest help the US military and the entire region would be a nice shot of pride for some pretty worn out people - i've not been paying attention... have the trouble areas been quieter recently?

GO IRAQ!!

GO IRAQ!!

Thanks for posting this... it is great news!

THEY ARE RESTED, READY, AND RAVENOUS! THE IRAQI FOOTBALLERS! Coming to a stadium near you! No more Saddam... this time they're out for blood!

Great!

GO IRAQ!!

I believe I heard during convention coverage last night that as of yesterday morning (26-Jul) one more US soldier had been killed in July than in the month of June. So, unfortunately, it doesn't appear that is has been quieter recently.

As much as I, like you, would hope that a nice Asian Cup run would in some small way rally and unify the peoples of Iraq...based on the tragedy they are living through right now, I imagine it is cold comfort.

Good on them. Hope they win, wouldn't mind seeing them qualify for Germany either.
