SoccerAge (http://www.soccerage.com/en/13/h1138.html)Ivan de la Pena has taken a swipe at Serie A after leaving Lazio for Espanyol last month.

"Italy is a fantastic country for tourism, but not to play soccer," he said. "The teams don't think about scoring goals as much as defending and pressing. Like this, they don't even think about winning. Now I'm happy also for Mendieta, who appears born again. I know what Gaizka was forced to go through at Lazio."

2001-2002 Stats

Serie A
612 matches, 806 goals
Average: 1.316

La Liga
760 matches, 961 goals
Average: 1.264

Sounds like sour grapes to me.

Carlos "The great Italian team has, at the most, one or two great players. "

Man, I sure hope Real loses to an Italian team in the CL this year.
