One of my favourite players in the world is Javier Zanetti. How is he still rated by Inter and most importantly Argentinian fans.
What position does he play for Argentina? To me looks like he plays on the right wing but im not sure.
Does anyone think he could play in central midfield maybe as a holding player cause I do?

Javier Zanetti plays either defense or midfield on the right side. He is known primarily for his ability to move up an down the field, being just as capable attacking as defending. He is one of the top Argentine players today, and well respected by experts and fans from Argentina and all over the world.

He began his playing career in Banfield, a small club from the suburbs of Buenos Aires. In 1995 he was transfered to Inter of Milan and he's been with them ever since.

Since age caught up to Cafu, Zanetti has been, imho, the best right back in the world. He's starting to fade, but not too badly.

The guy is simply amazing, and probably one of the world's hardest working players.

Zannetti is one of the classiest players i haver ever had the pleasure of watching. I think he deserves to be captain of the national team instead of Roberto Ayala. Nothing against Ayala just that zanetti has done so much more and for the national team than ayala. Javier will never be forgotten once he finishes his career but i seriously believe he still has a lot to offer. Hopefully he can cap of his career by leading argentina to the cup in 2006.

He does deserves to be a captain.
He is experirence, knows how to read the game exceptionally well.
Also his unpredictable passes are threatning.

Is he not also heavily involved in charity work? Seems like an all-round good guy!

Isn't this something? lol
