I was actually thinking about this yesterday. Kyle had a great rookie season but hasn't really done anything since. I don't think he's a bust yet. I think a change of scenery might be just what he needs to get him back on track. Plus, if he really is letting of-the-field issues harm his play, as is constantly joked about on the Columbus board, it would be good to get him away from Frankie Heyyagotsomepot and those other miscreants. I'm sure Nellie, Earnie, Bennie, Peter and the rest of the team won't put up with that stuff. We could use a play maker and Kyle could use a new situation. Any possibility that this would happen?

If their talk about Szetela is any indication, Crew fans would consider trading Martino to DC in exchange for Moreno, Adu, Nelson and Gros. You might have to toss in a first round draft pick or two to sweeten the pot though.

I can not for one second think why DC would want Kyle Martino. We have watched him since he came to Columbus. He was pretty good his Rookie year and that has been it. He is a lazy player, small, gets knocked off the ball and creates problems on the team. He has regressed from his Rookie year and also seems to have a lot of injuries.

He and Quaranta will make the perfect couple. ;)

martino needs a ball winner behind him. elliott isn't the ball winner, he is an offensive minded player. martino spends too much time trying to do two jobs instead of being an a-mid.

Imagine how many rolls of Scotch tape Martino goes through each year to tape his junk to the side of his leg when he tries to pick up men in Columbus. He should be walking the streets in that outfit.

On a more serious note: I don't think we'd be better off with Martino. We got rid of Etcheverry because he was basically the same player last season...lazy, unmotivated, not match fit for periods of time, and gets bumped off the ball easily.

I'm more than happy letting Namoff, Carroll, and Gros continue their development in the midfield.

I think he would benfit from a change of scenery, and he could probably learn a lot from Nowak. It seems like the only "coaching" he gets here with Columbus is "hey, Kyle, go play like a number 10." Our coach knows nothing about soccer, which is why no player with our club has improved over the past year or two. Maybe he will get traded and then he will become the player we all thought he would be.

Well anyone who saw Martino vs. Cameroon knows that he's got the goods. He just plays on the wrong team with the wrong players and the wrong coach.

And whoever said he needed a ball winner is correct. Elliot, Oughton or Mais aren't it.

And I know he's soft, but last time I checked the US isn't producing enough 1v1 players to dismiss him. Down a goal against a bunkering team - we need a player like him.

Can we just borrow him for a game while 3/4 of our roster misses the Dallas game?

People forget, he's older than Bobby Convey. How much improvement can reasonably be expected?

Eddie Lewis and Greg Vanney have improved dramtically due to their play in Europe. Perhaps Martino needs a change of scenery as well?
