So hey does anyone know Will Stoner and fiance Nicole? (I think that's their names. I feel OK posting their names here because, well, they were just featured on an hour long show on a national cable TV station.)

Aparrently they're from the area, and they were on the show on TLC called "What Not to Wear"; basically, folks who are, um, fashionally challenged go on the show and have their dress sense insulted and their clothes thrown away. Then they have to go shop for a new wardrobe.

Anyway, Will wears a lot of soccer jerseys, and he was wearing a DC United jersey for much of the first 15-20 minutes of the show. So of course they busted on him and told him to grow up, and then I almost screamed when they threw away a bunch of his soccer jerseys (including the DC jersey.)

Mind you, they also threw away his Arsenal jersey, so it wasn't all bad. :D

(Oh, and I will not respond to questions regarding how or why I was watching What Not To Wear on TLC....)

Somebody should introduce Willie and Nicole to the Wood Shampoo..

DC United jerseys are fashionable at weddings, funerals, Bar Mitzbahs and Proms.

Wankers...

On a similar note... the local sports talk station 930AM had a long segment on 10 top up and coming athletes that would make great "world wide marketing" spokes people --the idea being, if YOU could invest in one of them who would you pick.

Freddie Adu was one, and his pros and cons were discussed in detail. I had to admit it was nice to hear him being mentioned in the same breath as the #1 basketball pic and Eli Manning. Of course most of the people calling in (and to a lesser extent one of the hosts) were pretty anti-soccer or just ignorant of the reality of the sport, but as i said it was still nice to hear.

Edited to say, No ill will towards Willie and Nicole, but the wankers that canned the DCU jerseys....

Actually, it was worse. The framed the damned Arsenal jersey.

If you were forced into watching that show, like I was, then you can keep your Man Card. If you weren't, lie to us.

I watched it last night because there was a feature in the Post on it. The guy's name is Will Creedle. His fiance's last name is Stoner.

I would have savagely beaten the two hosts for tossing my DC and Arsenal jerseys.

Will's only real fashion faux pas was to wear the DCU shirt over the Arsenal one.

Thanks for the correction. I thought I might have gotten wrong even after I edited my intial post.

I'm not with you on the Arsenal jersey, but nonetheless, I would pay money to see you savagely beat those hosts.

Well, I wasn't exactly forced to watch, but I didn't exactly watch the whole thing either. But like I said, let's not get into it... :D

I'm appalled. Soccer jerseys aren't like regular clothes.

I have a theory that all the clothes they "throw away" don't get actually thrown away. Too bad this guy doesn't post here - I'd love to know if he rescued his jerseys.

I'll check the forum FAQ and see just where Don't ask, don't tell policy kicks in. :D

While watching this show with my wife, she told me that I shouldn't worry, she'd never try to get me on the show (the 100 or so hockey and soccer jerseys would be in jeopardy), and I replied that I didn't want to be known as the guy who ended reality TV by killing the hosts and crew.

The hosts would also have to buy me a new pair of shoes. They wouldn't be able to surgically remove my old ones from their @sses!

On the other hand, everyone who goes on that show gets their clothes thrown away so if he didn't want them thrown away he should have left them at home.

My inner packrat is highly vexed. Soccer jerseys are things, they aren't clothes. They just happen to be things we wear. A collection of jerseys is just that - a collection. Not a wardrobe.

Grrrrrrr

You have a higher opinion of TV executives than I do. I think killing the hosts and crew would drive ratings through the roof, and next season we'd see the cast of every reality show packing.

It has nothing to do with TV Execs, more to do with some kind of government intervention, or legislation. :D

Hear hear. I was just wondering the same thing... I mean, he wouldn't have just let them throw out his jerseys, right?

If I were on that show and they told me to get rid of my jerseys, I would just tell them to keep their money and then I would leave.

He was disappointedly passive.

This guy really needs to pop in here and tell us what really happened.
