Hey all-
I recently tried on a pair of copas, I had never done that before, because I had been caught up in the predator obsession. I loved the feel, and the touch on the ball was excellent, but I was wondering, why don't they simply update the style? Don't get me wrong, I love the classic look, but there are so many people that buy the vapors the azt IIIs and the predators that have no idea what the boot feels or plays like, just what it looks like, why don't they just make it look really "fashionable" (I almost died saying that in the same sentance as boot. EWW).

Also, why don't they put blades on the copas, and would you prefer the copas, http://www.soccer.com/Images/Catalog/ProductImages/images01/image_exists.php?sku=15110 or the german copashttp://www.soccer.com/Images/Catalog/ProductImages/images01/image_exists.php?sku=015110. I couldn't really see the difference, but the germans cost more so you have to wonder, and I'm not all that educated in copas. My friend had (I think it's kaizers) and he loved them. Are they higher or lower, so to speak, than the copas?
Man I feel like a newb writing this, and I could tell you all about predators or whatever, because I got caught up in the craze. So are the predators really better, or just newer?

The copa is the first really top end boot I owned, it was a stunning boot then and still is today, I have over the years owned many pairs of copas and tons of others as well (as anyone who posts often here can attest).

The boot is really perfect and ther is no real reason for adidas to change it, it has sold more over the past 25 years than any other soccer shoe and has I am sure even outsold some companies entire product range. Adidas has taken an "if it ain't broke don't fix it" policy with the copa there have been a few minor changes like the adidas leaf being taken off the heel and the label on the tounge changing over time but that's it.

As for the made in germany ones(which I am currently wearing) they are handmade in the adidas factory in Germany, the leather is softer, the shoe is lighter and the overall quality is higher, the regular ones are made in indonisa and are atill great boots but not as nice as the German model. the German ones also runa little on the long side so size them down. The german ones are the model that adidas pros that wear the cpa are given.

The Kiaser is the step down from the copa, it is made from full grain leather and is not handmade.

BTW all Copas will become made in germany over the next few months and the price point will fall to about $99.99.

im wearing the copas right now and i had the manias last year and i still wear them occassionally but they dont compare to the comfort and feel of the copas. to me the copas are the best soccer shoes ever made.

I've got some copa i've had them for about a season now and they have fallen apart on me. I have worn them so much the studs have worn down and i have holes in the front :-)

They are great boots though and when they were in one piece they were really comfy. But they did give me massive blisters at first but i love them. But one thing i did find about them was the more i wore them the boots got softer and softer and i did actually have to stop wearing them, but they are fantastic boots!!

Are they basically the same thing as the tiempo premiere's but with an adidas symbol?

Weird, how can you possibly get blisters from the Copas and which part of the feet did you get them at? They are so well designed, and like you are one of the few that gets blisters from them. There are about 15 guys on my team and 8 of them wear Copas and are excellent on their feet. Including myself. I wish they would have made a red/white Copa, for instance, white boot with red stripes, that would be awesome because of my school color. This shoe sadly lasted only a year but I personally don't remember the last time cleaning them though so that's what I deserve. Still playable, but looks real ugly now with athletic tape wrapped around the toe to keep it from falling apart.

For a quality and value, you just can't beat German copa's. I've tried many different shoes over the years but my Copa's always lasted a long time.

The Legend of the Copa Mundial -- I vividly remember being 14 yrs. old and my Grandpa taking me to the soccer shop and he being from Italy told me to get the ones that said World Cup on the side as they were the best! My dad gave me approx $35 to get some new soccer shoes and I had to shell out the rest of my own hard earned (read: saved allowance) cash to buy the boots. Upon walking out of the shop I thought that I was the Cat's Pajamas man. Copa's were all that and a bag of chips. I crammed my feet into them every game and practice for the next 4 years even after they were a size to small. I left for college and upon returning home I found that my mother had threw them in the trash and ended my love affair with the greatest soccer shoe of all time. I haven't since bought another pair of Copas.....it would be like backslidin' with an old girlfriend or something you know??? I replaced them with the hottest Predators at the time (Precisions) and things just were not the same. Over the years I have ended up spending my $$$ on the latest and greatest Nikes, Pumas, adidas, Lottos, and very recently a new pair of Diadora's......and as of yet nothing has the same overall appeal of the Copas. Maybe it was because of the special bond created on that day when my late Grandfather helped me pick out my new soccer shoes...or because there is no longer a local soccer store to purchase from (everything I get is over the internet theses days) but nothing can compare to Copas. I don't think that I will ever get another pair....but that is my loss. The Copa Mundial is the greatest soccer boot ever.

I got blisters on the balls of my feet. They were actually really nasty and i had to go and get them dressed at the hospital :-( But once my feel had got used to them they were really comfy.

I'm a freak though. I got blisters from copas but i've not had 1 blister from any pair of my vapors!!

Also, why don't they put blades on the copas,

The answer to your questions lie in the Supernovas. Classic look (esp. the original), K-leather w/TRX ... oh, and a hefty new price tag.
