Which do you prefer and why? I've never worn blades myself, and I was talking to a friend about them tonight and she swears by them. She says that she feels "taller" and the traction she gets when she cuts can't be beat. What is your opinion?

I would say to her, "wutever"....
Truth is, it doesn't really matter. As long as there is something sticking out from the bottom of ur boots, there is enough traction on grass. But hey, blades are stylish, tho studs show class

That's rubbish! Blades and studs are so different that of course they make a difference which you wear! It's hardly the difference between having one colourway or another. Blades give an increased level of traxion due to their placement on the boot and larger surface area. Studs are the more traditional method, but to be honest I don't find that they provide the same sort of traxion as the new blades, especially moulds. However some people will prefer studs, especially defenders in my experiance! Just my opinion but blades are better, and it DOES make a difference which you wear, otherwise what would be the point?

blades offer a traction advantage but are hard on feet, ankles and knees

I have a Adidas Pulse FG and Copa Mundial, I must say Pulse(blades) gave me a better support and less problems on my feet, ankles and knees.
I've been playing on a Dry(yellow grass), Hard and "very" bumpy grass pitch and blades does a magic for me. Copa is a great shoes but when ground is very hard and bumpy, it feels like I'm going to roll my ankles and developed a pains in my heels, achilles and knees. Of course I have a choice of turf shoes but key word is "very bumpy" and it is an another subject. ;)

As you all know I am severly anti-Market hype. I have my **************** detector up full when it comes to gimmicks and false marketing and technology. However, blades are very good. They provide better traction when turning and swivelling especially and the FG sole plate on the AZT 90 II's is the best I have come across. The pimpled mouldies work fine but have been super seeded by the blades i think. The only modern advancement in boot technology that truly makes a difference.

I play GK and I am gathering the impression that the blades impede my lateral movement to some small degree. That is just my personal, unscientific growing impression. I talking about strictly lateral movement, i.e. shuffling along the goal line.
my 2 cents

Blades are more durable, after a while the studs start to break down until your cleat looks like a sneaker...
