do predators actually work???

i've heard a lot talk about this, but the stupidest comment i've heard is when this one kid shot the ball and it went wide... then he said 'dude, that woulda so been in with predators.' his shot wasn't really that close either, he was off by 6, 7 feet. but i've always wondered if the vamps do work. i mean, is the improvement even noticeable? i dont like beckham very much, but i know he can bend the ball pretty well, and i know that's not because of the predators. also , is adidas really 'improving' the shoe with each release? and how come with the mania's they started putting the vamps only on the inside and not under the laces or on the outside?

if a boot makes that much of a difference... he should A) make sure he always has them, B) compesnate for the lack of swerve, or C) shut his dumb yap and not blames the shoes

the mechanics of the shot have the most to do with spin, swerve, power, accuracy. Cleats have a little bit to do with it, some cleats like valsports are really slippery and the ball will slip off on a cross or shot even with good mechanics. but the vamps on the preds do not make that big of a difference on a shot or cross. that person is talking BS

Maradona, Pele, Cruyff, Van Bastan, Platini and Baggio have all seems to have pretty stellar momnets in the game and none were helped by the Predators.

I agree -- the boys got it done without 'em. I have worn predators and copas and many other brands and this is what my opinion is......the predatoras do have the ability to help add a lil' sumptin' sumptin'. But that is about it. They don't help a teremendous lot. After trying the new Nike's I prefer the simple and understated models. I can't wait to get my Baggio's.

Well the vamps don't do ******** but they are still a very nice boot, I get better grip with them than I did in my Puma King Classics, and the heel counter works and is nice.

Those predator vamps doesnt help... I manage to take some killer freekicks with a boot without predator vamps but when i wear back my predator mania, i could kick for nuts :p

I think they do work, I have had a few different types of boots, from synthetic to all leather, and I can't get the same sort of swerve, especially on crossing, as I can with my preds. Have to say I reckno the vamps on the Pred Mania are better than on the Pulse though. It may be psychological but I do honestly think they make a difference. Besides that they are really nice boots to wear and v.comfortable!

Beckham could bend the ball as much in bare feet, put it that way. How come the players with the greatest amount of swerve on Earth, probably Carlos and Recoba don't need preds? The different the rubber makes is negligible and is basically a marketing gimmick, this can be seen as very obvious by the lack of optimum positioning of the vamps on the boot. They keep chaning it for fashion other than anything else, this is where the priority is. Preds are pretty good boots but its despite of the gimmicks not because of them.

You can either curve the ball or you cant. The vamps dont help. They are just for marketing purposes.

Yeah, its funny this thread popped up, because I was thinking along the same lines last night as I was putting some kids through agility training. One kid was flying through the speed ladder in a pair of bulky cross trainers he must have bought at Wal-M***, while a second kid could barely move in a pair of those fancy Nike Shox shoes.

The shoe can't move faster than the foot. Basically, my philosophy is, equipment is there to not hinder your basic ability. It is a real rarity where something makes you better. But there are obvious examples. No one could argue against longer cleats on wet fields, but you run out of examples pretty quickly, once you get past Physics 101.
