I was thinking Orange and Gray, either vertical stripes or hoops, that would look really cool and be very different from any jersey I can think of.

Sounds pretty ugly too.
Color combo option 1: purple, black, silver , with white as the 4th color.
Teams to copy: Fiorentina, Harchester United
Color combo option 2: claret (a shade of maroon - think West Ham), sky blue (West Ham again), and Navy blue, with white as your 4th color.
West Ham, Aston Villa, Torino.
The first combo has a lot of merchandise potential.

Orange is already taken by Dallas FC but I guess there can be two.

Some of the colors on the poll are a joke... but not that much: Real Madrid wore lavender away kits from 1983-1986 when purple was their color accent. Cosmojado> if you go Real then white and black or the new blue even.
An Aston Villa combo would look awesome. Please no red or (royal/standard) blue.

Fiorentina and Perth Glory use Purple for their kits, why not go for purple?
Purple and Orange is a good mix as Perth Glory has been a hit in the NSL now the APL by being bold with new colours and ones that stand out.
Salt Lake City could do the same and be a unique team that would break away from 'the norm'

There might be a reason it's "very different." ;) :D
MLS has way too much red and black, so that's right out the window. Green or purple or orange would be original MLS colors (altho the 'Pids used to be green, and Colorado has no real MLS rival, so you guys are likely it, so you wouldn't want their sloppy seconds on color.)
I think purple would be great, as in purple mountain's majesty.
Burgundy would be pretty original worldwide; can anyone think of a burgundy team? The problem with burgundy is it doesn't go with much. Purple and gold are great.
Also, I'm a big, big fan of the USA 1950/River Plate/Galaxy slash. I think a purple jersey with a gold sash, and an alternative gold with purple sash, would be great.

how could any self-respecting man play in a uniform consisting of baby blue, and a color called claret. We might as well go with periwinkle and fuschia after all.

Bordeaux in the French league was burgundy for a while.

no one knows about Dallas and colors since Eliott, Wagner, and Hunt have not made a decision yet.

what about purple or maroon?
Reading more into it than I probably should, based on the color they chose for the sidebar (http://www.mlsnet.com/MLS/news/mls_news.jsp?ymd=20040714&content_id=8211&vkey=news_mls&fext=.jsp), I'm betting purple. I looked around other news articles, but couldn't find any others with sidebars to try and refute my wild theory.

I thought the same thing when I saw it.
