Anyone heard of young goalkeeper, Michael Keohane?

Keohane’s inclusion comes after O’Reilly’s contacts in the USA brought the goalkeeper to his attention.

“He has come over with his father and it’s a great experience for him. We’ve had him watched several times and all the reports were good and he’s impressed in training,” said O’Reilly.

“He’s been in the US underage squads – they select any player regardless of nationality in their development squads – and is with the IMG Soccer Academy in Florida.

“We want to find out are there more players over there that have Irish links and hopefully Michael won’t be the only one.”

BTW, Noel O'Reilly is also an assistant to Ireland's Senior Coach, Brian Kerr.

I haven't heard much about him, but if he is at IMG, he must be pretty good. However I wonder how much longer he would stay there if he decides to play for Ireland?

Keohane has been playing with the IMG Academy U-18 squad down in Florida, and is also a reserve GK for the Bradenton Academics of the USL's Premier Development League (PDL). He comes out of Region IV ODP 85's via California North.

Not a whole lot out there.

He's the backup keeper on the Region IV '87s to Marcus Rein.

I thought that nabbing all of those English kids would have kept them busy enough. Guess they are expanding their horizons.

They can take as many as Goalkeepers they want. Hell, they even can take Cronin with them, and even Noonan, Moore, etc. We will give them McBride after 2006. But please let us keep O'Brien, Donovan, and Gaven for sure. :>)

with the English kids, it's not pure poaching.

Religion and parentage play a large role in kids born in England but representing Ireland or Wales, less so Scotland and Northern Ireland.
