The sky has fallen. We will always suck and it's time to commit ritual suicide.
OK, now that the myth has been presented, here's some facts to consider:
We're still only four points out of first in our conference.
Luck has been decidedly against the Fire for quite a while now, and that really ought to change soon.
Consider the shot that Onstad saved on Razov. Had that kick been six more inches to the right, we'd have had 2 more points out of that game.
Consider Kirovski's goal over Ring. Nine times out of ten that play fails. There's one point gained instead of zero if that kick had been two feet higher or lower.
Consider the PK against us for the Metrotards. Had the cross hit CJ two inches to his right or been six inches closer to Ring, we'd have two more points in that game.
That's five points right there that were matters of luck coming to the other teams. This stretch of horrid luck has to end at some point.
I am very encouraged by the effort we saw from the Fire against the Scum. With Damani's current form, if Ante can get back his usual form, or anything close to it, we can be the team to beat in the second half of the season. Armas' long balls last game were perfect. Mapp's work on the ball was very solid, and CJ and Jimmy were in solid control of the back. Add in a healthy Andy Williams and send Marsch to see the Pope for a quick healing, and we can field the best lineup in the league--even with our recent loss of a left wing.
