Beasley will play for PSV next season. But here in Holland we don't know much about him. He will replace Wonderkid Arjen Robben on the left so that means he is a winger?

He spent two years learning how to dive from Hristo Stoitchkov. That's all you need to know.
Well, that and he can be knocked down by a moderate wind gust.

Is he an improvement for an european team?

Hi theiceman,
Welcome to the boards.
Here's a biography on the US Soccer site: http://www.ussoccer.com/bio/bio.sps?iBiographyID=1722
So you get DaMarcus and we (DC United) get Earnie Stewart.
Enjoy. He's an exciting player.

Well, he traditionally plays on the wing. He doesn't cross the ball nearly as well as Robben, but he is very very fast and dangerous taking players on off the dribble, as well as in tight combination play. A good defender, he tracks back well from offensive positions and teams will be hesitant to attack down the right side against him.
He's slight, but tough. And he'll bring a little bling bling to the Honor Division.

Welcome to BigSoccer iceman - be sure to also check out our Yanks Abroad section. You would have a lot of fans on Yanks Abroad if you gave the occasional update on Beasely's performances/progress during the season. I'll let some of the other USA N&A regulars answer your question more fully but in short -- DMB is a left-sided non-traditional wing player who can be a lot of fun to watch, plays good defense, and can run for days, but has a sometimes maddening inability to hit a good cross or shot.

Hi theiceman,
Welcome to the boards. You may get better response if you post this in USA/Yanks Abroad.
In the meantime, here's a biography on the US Soccer site: http://www.ussoccer.com/bio/bio.sps?iBiographyID=1722

Earney Stewart was the player of NAC in Holland, that's the place where I live, I have seen him playing many games

to answer your question: he is a insanely fast AND quick, generally willing to take on any defenders, wins an incredible number of free kicks/penalties, works great combos, tracks back terrifically, has a nice long range shot that he is for some reason shy with and definitely needs to work on his crossing
if you go to the www.ussoccer.com media section you can search for highlight clips of run DMB
nicknames: jitterbug, bease, run DMB, run DMP (dont ask)
EDIT: his slight frame is often mentioned and for good reason, but he seems to have a knack for deflecting contact or missing it altogether

he plays ALOT like Robben- left footed, extremely quick and very, very hard working. Compared to Robben, I would say he is even a little faster, but less skilled. The most surprising thing about him, is that despite his size ( very small) he is a very good defender. He is quick and gets his body in the way, to steal the ball. Also, his shot is harder than you might expect from a little guy. Let's put it in this perspective: when the USA played Holland in 2002, before WC, Advocaat took Reisiger off because Beasley was absolutely killing him-he was simply too quick for Reisiger. He is too quick for most defenders.

I don't think refs allow that on the field.

hes a left sided player, very very speedy, and is pretty good at taking players on 1v1, this comes from his speed. he is also a good a defence and just being pesky. bruce arena has said he is the best "defender" on our national team. he has an exellent work ethic. he is ussually played on the wing. his crosses need work, and his foot skills need work too. with the world class coaching at psv, i think he could be a world class player will defenitly help your team. hes only 22 and will only get better.

when I saw Robben in the Euros, I thought : I can see why PSV is interested in Beasley.Beasley plays more like Robben than any other player I can think of.

I don't think it is a skill issue. At critical moments with the ball he has a tendency to target fixate and the ball gets caught in the wheels. He needs to stop thinking and strike the cross/shot.

He won the silver ball (Landon Donovan won the gold) as second best player at the 1999 U-17 World Cup in New Zealand. He forced his way onto the WC02 team despite only having played 45 meaningless minutes during WCQ - in the game the U.S. played after they had qualified.
Has a big reputation for bringing it for the national team, but underperforming for his club side.
I'd recommend going to the Chicago Fire forum here and checking in with those guys.
Has a big reputation amongst other MLS fans as a major diver.

I would like to add that he doesn't look like AndyMead's avatar.

Andy's avatar is more politically astute!
Honestly, that's unfair. I don't know Beas' politics at all. They could be similar.
Anyway, Run DMB plays well for both club and country. The Fire have him defend more, however, so the goals scored with the club are obviously less.
One nice thing about Beasley going to Holland is that he REALLY wants to be there. He's very pleased and excited about the opportunity. Despite his skinny frame, he is also very resilient and doesn't get injured easily. He's not as skilled and soccer-mature as another Dutch-playing American, John O'Brien, but he also manages to stay healthy and on the field more than poor JOB.

My 2 cents.
In addition to obvious speed and quickness, he has an excellent read of the game, makes good runs off the ball and never ever is beaten 1-v-1 on the defensive side.
Used properly he can dominate his side of the field, especially in the 2nd half, but is a pretty poor ball striker as far as top-flight European standards go. For improper use, see Dave Sarachan, Chicago Fire head coach.

I posted this on the PSV website
. Because my TV doesn’t get the Dutch League, I am requesting someone to provide a service for us.
1. With two Koreans on the team how many PSV games were shown on the Korean streaming sites?
2. Does PSV provide video highlights on the website?
3. Is there a video webcast for the PSV games?
4. If not perhaps someone can take the TV feed, run it through a digital device such as a DV camera, into a video capture card then stream the video to a Yahoo Chat Room.
5. Barring that, capture the video to a DVD, then make a Bit Torrent of the game, and post it on a Bit Torrent tracker that I can provide.
6. Take the weekly highlights from the TV and make a Bit Torrent of it.
7. Send me the video tape and I’ll do all of the above as well as pay postage and provide the tape/CD/DVD.
8. I can provide the software for all of the above.
If none of the above can be done where is the best place to read commentary on the games?
