Philadelphia Union has unveiled its first-ever home game jersey which will be available in stores by the end of next week. The club succeeded earlier in creating a classic soccer crest that has been embraced by its supporters. Philadelphia Union has worked to creat a unique jersey that their supporters can proudly wear.
The uniform jersey, very much like the crest, incorporates the colors of the Revolutionary Army and is a salute to their fans and the history of the Greater Philadelphia Region we represent.
Among the features of the club’s first game jersey:
• Midnight blue is the dominant color
• The club crest is centered on the front on a wide panel of Union gold
• Above the right breast, the adidas logo, maker of all official Philadelphia Union gear
• On the right sleeve, there is an MLS patch
• On the left sleeve, there is an American flag
• Accent piping, the light blue color of the flag of Philadelphia, can be found on both the top and bottom of the jersey, as well as the tip of each sleeve
• Back of collar, “Jungite Aut Perite”, Latin for Join or Die, Benjamin Franklin’s rallying cry for colonial unity.

Just saw it before i came on BS, I like the overall design but my only regret would be that they didnt carry the gold stripe all the way up but its still pretty darn good

This drives me mad.
But those are cool jerseys, I think. I am in favor of the muted colors.

The Swedish flag has something to do with it, too--not just the Revolutionary Army uni's--because the Swedish flag inspired the Philadelphia flag, as they were the first Europeans to settle the area, and which in turn the city flag inspired the colors of Philadelphia Union.
Legend has it Boca Juniors got their current colors because the colors they had before then were same as another team, and they lost the dispute, so they had to pick new colors--and so decided to base it on the first ship to come into port, which happened to be a Swedish ship.

I was sitting here thinking and hoping distinctive and well they delivered.
MLS has few distinctive uniforms Chicago with the horizontal chest stripe, DC with the 3 stripes across the chest err nix that, and I guess Dallas with the hoops.
At least Houston and Seattle are very distinctive colorwise.

The center crest concept is really unique in a league where no other club has their crest center mounted like that, it's just the colors that I don't see as very original. The home uniform colors are very similar to that of the Galaxy's road uniforms! But still it's a very nice jersey, I wonder how their away jersey will look and what color will the use in the center if they go with the road gold?
