Maria Full of Grace," which won the award as audience favorite at last January's Sundance Film Festival, also opened strongly in limited release, taking in $124,000 at seven theaters. The drama centers on a young Colombian woman who signs on as a "mule" carrying heroin to the United States.

It was a very good movie everybody should go see it.

I saw this movie at the theatres here. A very dark look at the life of drug mules. I must say Maria showed nerves of steel during the film.

I like foreign films as opposed to American cinema as it is more realistic and not always full of the good guy bad guy scenario's in so many American films. On a sidenote from the film: Is it true that you can't be x-rayed at a airport if you're pregnant?

if this movie really isnt a good guy vs. bad guy flick then its not a real representation of colombians condition

yes loved ones and family members do do these things but that doesnt excuse the fact that there commiting a crime and it doesnt mean they shouldnt be locked up

What I was referring to in the good guy/bad guy scenario we see in so many American movies, is films like Dirty Harry or countless Arnold Schwarzenegger/ Silvester Stallone films where the main actor "miraculously" kills seemingly a 100 of the enemy in a firefight without even taking a bullet.

I wasn't referring to the fact that drug dealers are in fact good guys in real life.

My friends had watched Cidade de Deus and mocked the fact that little kids where roaming the streets murdering one another as if it was a exaggeration. When in fact this does happen quite frequently in Barrios and favelas across Latin America daily.

American film is too tame to make such a film like Cidade de Deus and the censors in maintstream America would never allow it. That's why I like foreign films like Maria Full of Grace, Cidade de Deus & Bus 174 for depicting reality.

reality is something sometimes we dont need to be exposed too i agree with american sensors in most cases
