Recovery is important, not just between sessions but some long term reovery that is why it could help to sit on your butt a couple of weeks

okay, either you're a moron or you're... no, I guess that's it.
Other than that, sounds like a nice plan. I'll try it sometime when I'm like 90 and tell you how much faster I get

I was kidding about it. I really did get faster by not doing much but that is just because I got a lot stronger with the weight that put on. (I was really underweight so I had to go on a weight gaining regimen my doctor put me on).

I play defence and I would like to build up my speed as well.
I think a point that needs stressing is doing your speed work on pitch to reduce stress on your joints.
Now for the question part; do you guys think it would be beneficial to incorporate soccer specific movement such as a quick turn around (as in when the attacker blows past you) at the beginning of your sprint?

plyometrics are explosive bodyweight excersizes, such as frog leaps.

I recently went to a soccer camp and for the first time in my life I was able to put the ball to the side and beat the defenders with speed. When my evaluation came back, the coach said I should work on my speed. I have never been the fastest player in the world, but not the slowest either. I thought this was the summer when I would finally not have to worry about my speed. Coaches are always saying "You're dribbling skills are fine," then there's that "BUT, your speed needs to improve. How fast do you have to be to be considered fast? Please, give some workouts or routines to do to get fast. I am sick of being graded "average" on speed. I'm willing to do the work.
soz mate its highly unlikely you can improve this area of your game your either born with it or you arent speed is the main reason why players never get to the top take gareth baryy for example he wont play for england because hes to slow speed is due to the muscle fibres ie slow and fast twitch sound to me like you have got a bit of both
