Bolivia has 2 points, a -1 GD, and scored 3 goals.

If Costa Rica has a scoreless tie with Chile tomorrow, Chile will have 2 points, a -1 GD, and 1 goal. Bolivia would advance on goals scored. With a 2-2 tie, it goes to the next tie-breaker which I don't know.

In any case, the winner of Chile-Costa Rica will advance to the knockout round.

ART. 5

In Case of Draws

1. If two teams are equal at the end of the first stage, in order to determine first and second places, and best teams among those ranked third, the following criteria will be followed:

1.1 Greater number of points obtained.

1.2 Team with best goal difference. This difference is obtained by subtracting goals conceded from goals scored.

1.3 If there is no goal difference, the team that will qualify will be the one with greater number of goals scored.

1.4 If two teams are still equal, the one that will qualify will be the winner of their head-to-head match.

1.5 If qualification cannot be defined after the successive application of the regulation, the drawing of lots in the presence of representatives of the respective institutions will take place.

1.6 If two teams are equal before they play the last match of their respective group, and if the equality still persists after applying all the criteria described in items 1.1, 1.2, 1.3 e 1.4 successively, the result will be defined in compliance with the execution of the maximum penalties, as determined in the regulations of FIFA.

it seems 1.4 won't apply since they didn't play head to head. 1.6 doesn't make any sense to me. is that for the case that not all the group games are played?

applying these rules, the following scenarios are possible:

1. If Costa Rica or Chile have a decisive match, the winner will advance.
2. If the final score is 0 - 0, Bolivia will advance.
3. If the final score is 1 - 1, Bolivia will advance.
4. If the final score is 2 -2, the advancing team will be chosen by chance.
5. If the final score is 3-3, or a higher number tie, Chile will advance.

let's hope it is not #4. that would suck.

Seems that Chile's best strategy would be to play as much offense is possible, since a high scoring game is to their advantage.

Should be a good game.

bolivia will advance? Is chile able to handle costa rica?

as colombian, I will like boilivia for the next game.... and keep cruising, but chile has very lil anyway.... I say vs chile is an even match, considering colombia's lack of goals now days

Chile or Costa Rica would be fine. Let us not forget the game is on Saturday and that only gives Chile or Costa Rica 2 days of res while Colombia has had 4 days.

Bolivia played well for such a different team then we've assembled in the past. Maybe if we had Castillo and Peña things could've a little different. Even though, I'm proud of my boys. And if you ask me, Alvarez's goal against Peru is the goal of the tournament so far.

You can say that Bolivia gave Hard times to Colombia and Peru, losing and getting a draw in last moments of each game, respectevily. I was not totally fair that they were eliminated, but at the same time in a tournament where 8 out of 12 make it to the 2nd round it is not difficult to get to the quarterfinals.

Ecuador was the worst.
Venezuela next to last.
Chile next one.
And Bolivia was eliminated on the last play of first round.

I'm sorry to see Bolivia go, I really enjoyed watching them play.

IMO Bolivia has nothing to be ashamed of luck just wasn't on their side this time around. Hopefully next time things will go better for them.

And Bolivia was eliminated on the last play of first round.
And to add insult to injury, there were 3 minutes of stoppage given. The game went almost 4 when Costa Rica scored. The referee? BOLIVIANO!
