Alright, I know I'm SLIGHTLY jumping the gun here, but wouldn't it be nice if we had a Supporter's Club on opening day next year? Is there anyone besides me who is interested in getting one started?
Really, the question is - is there enough interest for me to waste my time working on this?

Not sure on a definitive date, but late March, early April is the starting date... Spring Break maybe? Eh... EH!

I know many of the Blitzz RAF (Radical Attitude Fans) are going to be attending the MLS. I bet they even bring their drums.

i can't imagine that the blitz's hardcore fans would not be interested in supporting an mls team. you should contact them and make it a joint effort.
also, you might want to talk to the guys over at the dc united, la galaxy, and chicago fire boards for help and answers to questions. they have, by far, the best supporter groups in the league.

I'd like to be in a supporters club too. Let me know any details.

I guess you'll have to start a thread to name your supporters group too but I guess that will have to wait 'til the team has a name..:)
Hopefully you guys will get an okay for flags on poles in the supporters section like Chicago and the LA Riot Squad did..
The LA Riot Squad is getting a lot more TV time now that they are allowed to have flags..

Just temporarily call yourselves the SLC Supporters Club. Easy enough to change later on, while still having an identity. :)

Good luck to your new group! I'm excited for ya'll!

Getting way ahead of myself here, but I wonder what sort of accomodations might be made for supporters? The Blitzz started off as a small enough organization that there have been times when members of the current supporters club have sat down to lunch with the owners. (Supporters club means essentially we all sit in the same area each game, a few of us bring drums and horns, and make a little bit of noise.)
With the exception of a few small sections of reserved seating the first year, the seating has always been general admission and after the first game or two each season (the Blitzz have had home games at 5 different venues, 7 if you count the single games in parks at Wendover and Park City) the RAF members find a suitable area to assemble each game. As the season goes on, we often find others starting to sit close by and joining in with our cheers.
The future MLS team will of course have a pricing structure where most (if not all) of the seating will be assigned seats. (Presumably the seats we've used in 2003 and 2004 right behind the visiting bench will be at the high end of the price structure.)
I'd think the best solution would be for the supporters to sit in the traditional area behind one of the goals. I don't mind shelling out bucks for season tickets, but just as the rowdy fans want to be together, there are a lot of other fans that enjoy the atmosphere we provide, but would rather enjoy us from a distance. It might be nice if some parts of the stadium are general admission, that way other fans can join in with us as the season progresses and ones that want to avoid us don't find themselves buying a season ticket and find they are right in front of the father and son who bring some very large and very loud drums to each match.
What kind of accomodations do other MLS teams provide for sections of more exuberant fans? I attended a game in San Jose a few years ago and they had a great section in the North end zone called "The Casbah" making a lot of noise.

If I lived in Utah, I'd join. But I live in New England.

OK supporters club...our first opportunity to make our presence known is tomorrow at the news conference...Rice-Eccles at 11am. It could shock the press to have some "hardcore fans" on hand. Maybe we can help the naysayers reevaluate their opinion that SLC cannot support a MLS team.
BTW...I do like the idea of waiting for the team to be named until later. SLCSC or even Salt Lake City can work for the time being and then later (maybe even based on what the supporters' group decides to call itself) come up with a nickname.

Might be fun if a few of us could sort of show up at Rice-Eccles tomorrow with our drums, horns, and replica jerseys. But working in Provo, I can't make it there and back on my lunch hour.

Nice to see a new city, and the building of something as beautiful as a supporters club. Best of luck!

I'm in. Let's get this thing going on. What do we need to organize?
I might even be able to go to the press conference tomorrow. Will anyone else be there? I've got an Earthquakes jersey to wear, but no drums. I think I might be able to get my hands on a recorder (ha!) but I just don't think it would be appropriate.
Do you have to have press credentials to attend? I might be able to swing that too if I know whether they're needed right away.

It's too bad there's not a team with a supporter's club you could join here.

I would be suprised if they require press credentials for this, however, call one of the local tv stations, andthey can surely tell you.
I'll be there (unfortunately in a tie...d**n conservative partners)
