Just so long as they don't make the mistake they made in 2001. I did not like all that shiny material. I don't like nike, because they like to jack up the price.

I think Kappa should make it.They should make it look just like the Italian uniform, but obviously with a green shirt, white shorts, red socks. Same fit too. We don't need baggy, cholo looking uniforms.

Abba made a nice classy jersey. Garces also made a classy jersey. Atleticas first design looked tacky..but nothing cholo about it. Maybe you need to stop buying them at the flea markets :D (JK) and get the real deal. Atleticas' June 2001-present kit was vey classy...

I have the june2001 model and the WC2002 model and nothing cholo about those either...

I hope we stay away from Nikes's volleyball type jerseys... those are tacky.

I think its also very important to give it to a Mexican corp.. I think its important to comercialize Mexican brands more. I would like to see Atletica used more outside of Mexico. Its used in Central Amrica, south America, US (Dallas Burn)... but it would be nice to see them in Europe...

If J. Martinez Patiño does decide to buy a club in Chile and in SPain... i hope they go with Mexican sponsors and products. (Martinez has stated that he would use Mexican products and its sponsors)

I would also like to see nike make a jersey for el Tri but they have a tendency to make some of the jerseys similar to those of other national teams. If they do make Mexico's jersey I hope that's not the case. And like booper said I also think it would be pricey compared to previous jerseys.

F-ck Nike unless you want your jersey to look just like USA, Brazil, Nigeria, Belgium, Korea etc. etc.

Absolutely right about Atletica, they care about the Mexican team and come up with designs that are unique internationally. We USA fans cannot stand Nike as a jersey sponsor.

I personally dont have anything against Nike.

I think they have made some nice uniforms in the past. I like what they have done to America this season.. cant say i like the ones from last season all that much.. but there new design is okay.

I myself am an Adidas fan.

But, from an economical standpoint.... i think it is very important for the FMF to trust Mexican companies with thier products... with the intent of selling and comercializing them abroad.

It would be cool to se teams in Europe wearing jerseys from Mexican comapnies.

I am not being biased here... but I thought that the Mexican jersey was a lot better looking than a bunch of other jersies in the WC. I for one could not stand Koreas, Brazils, US jerseys. I have always liked the Brazil's jerseys.. but they were pathetic.

I thought Spain, England, Italy, Mexico, Argentina all had classy uniforms..

Over the years.. i have grown to dislike Nike when it comes to soccer gear.

All I hope is that Nike does not screw up America.... since we have a contract with them for another 8 years.. I miss the adiddas jersey from 99-2000.

Who made the jersey's a few years back (98?) with the big Aztec face on them. Those were sweet ass jerseys, and this is coming from a yank. I would like to see Mexico go back to something like that.

You're right that Mexico's jersey was better looking than most of the other WC Jerseys. Part of the reason is because Nike made one jersey for all of their sponsored teams and just changed the colors accordingly. USA was white with red, Brazil was yellow with green, Nigeria was puke green with white, Korea was red with white, Portugal was burgundy with green, Belgium was pink-red with black, etc. Nobody thought they were attractive. Even if they were attractive, it takes away from it when they look just like everbody else's shirts, just different colors.

Nike issued a press release in March about how they were supporting the US team by issuing new uniforms specifically engineered for the monsoon weather in Korea and Japan. They went on to say how it took them over two years to come up with the technology, and that USA would be at an advantage at the World Cup. Great, except that same "technology" is given to half of the teams at the World Cup. It seems a bit false to pat yourself on the shoulder for helping out the US team, when you're doing the same thing for their competitors (especially considering Portugal and Korea are also Nike-sponsored and were in USA's group).

The funny thing is I like Nike athletic gear, but most of their soccer gear really isn't great quality. Part of that is probably because Nike has only been around since the early 70s and started out designing running shoes for competition. They moved on from there into all different types of sports shoes and equipment. .

BTW, none of the teams you listed as having classy uniforms were sponsored by Nike.

Spain and Argentina: Addidas
England: Umbro
Italy: Kappa
Mexico: well you know the answer there

I agree with RDL on Nike screwing up soccer uniforms...

I think we should keep our own original styles like we have been doing over the past few years... I like our Atletica uniforms a lot and they're also pretty classy.

I was going to post the same point. I LOVED those jerseys and will always regret not buying one, if only so I could wipe with it ;)

The FMF directives are currently in Portland (Nike HQ) going over a possible deal with NIKE. One of the good things is that they can guarantee games against National Teams that wear their brand like Holland, Portugal and Croatia. The only downside is NIKE tendancy to dress all the National Teams the same which is lame :(

I am still not convinced about that.

I think Nike will go more for US-Mexico matches. A US-Mexico game will make Nike a lot more money than a Mexico-Holland game. Nike will use demographics to thier advantage and create more cold war commercials. O' how nike would love to sucker in US fans alongside other US latin Americans against Mexicans and Mexican Americans.

The EuroCup is not too far away.. I think teams like Holland, Portugal, Croatia will be more worried about the Euro Qualifiers and the WC qualifiers.

If Nike can guarantee match ups against those type of teams early on.. so we can see how some of our sub23 players look against those type of teams.. than I am all for it... but i dont trust Nike when it comes to soccer.

That whole stunt with Ronaldo just makes me doubt them. Also that crap about Ronaldo playing with Brazil, knowing he still was not ready to, make me even more skeptical.

Maybe its just me, but I am skeptical. Nike is not going to make or break the FMF. Nike is not going to take us to the other level. I just dont buy it.

And god forbid our soccer jerseys look like Volleyball jerseys.

Settle down Drama Queen (Grabs rdl and slaps the bejeebus out of him) :D

Lets get some things clear. One, Mexico does not have a current two time Fifa player of the year who is considered the best of the best. Second i doubt the FMF/Nike deal will be worth 300M.

Mexico and Brazil, Apples and Oranges. Now using Mexico to the U.S advantage thats just exagerating. Im quite sure the contract will clearly state which games need to be played. If theres something the FMF doesnt like im sure it can be changed, and as far as commercials. I dont ever recall seeign a USMNT Nike comercial. I do howver remeber the PUMAS/CHIVAS Nike commercials, sweet stuff...The FMF wants to commercialise el Tri even More, and theres no better than NIKE for marketting.

Mexico is a position that not to many countries are in....Mexico can generate lots of money in 2 fronts.

I dont think Mexico can generate a lot of money in Europe. So where do you think Nike will go to make its money?

I doubt Mexico would fill up Holland's stadium or Portugal's stadium. Its almost a certainty that they will fill anyhouse in North America.

Really,

And is is a coincidence that Mexico plays more games in the US than it does in Mexico? Playing a game like El Salvador to match up against Honduras? Did you really buy that game was set up to get use to the Central American style of play? I dont buy it.

Nike will promote Nike, not the FMF. They will prostitute the FMF, and set up bogus games against teams from the area. Soccermania did it and you can bet your ass that Nike will do it worse.

IS like that deal with Chivas. Is 10 bullshyt games a year to face off MLS teams really going to help out CHivas or the MLS teams?

If you can answer that, then you will know what Nike will do to the FMF...

Oh, i dont doubt that the FMF will set up some games with Holland or portugal, but expect those in early 2006.

I would rather face them on a regular basis starting 2003.

When you have coaches like Lavolpe, Sanchez, Lapuente, Basile saying that these scheduled games in the US are set up by external forces for the sole purpose to raise the level of profit and not so much the level of competition It makes you think .....

I question Alejandro Burrillo's motives with SoccerMania. I questioned his motives back in 99 with Centro Pegaso and I questioned his motives when he said that he would market the FMF for a small fee.
