Is anyone else playing this game, and getting tired of being in divisions with 3-4 active teams?
My team isn't bad, and I spend MAYBE 5 minutes a day on it. I changed tactics 1 time in the last 2+ seasons because of injuries and have won my division 3 sesaons running. And what does that get me? A place in division 417. Wow. I'm so excited.
It's not that it's a bad game, but damn, I've been playing since March and haven't had a promotion worry yet. I'm so close to just giving up.

Mine has about 3 people not playing (and 15
who are). The 3 teams that got promoted into
our div are tearing it up, so it sounds like
your situation. I think that's because you've
been playing since March, and likely the div
you got promoted to are full of newer teams
(with lower quality players and no money).
There's prolly 2 things you can do:
1) You can switch out of your league. I think
you can switch to a new team after about a
month (so you can definitely do it if you've
been playing since March).
I forget exactly how, but you can see when
a manager last logged in, so you can figure
out if your new div is full of people playing.
Also, you can check out the other teams in
the div, so you can tell if they're similar
in # of stars and player quality.
2) Better yet, they're re-org'ing the
div's soon (dunno exactly when, but the
coding's finished, but they didn't have time
to impliment for the season that started
last week). With the restructure, you'll be
placed into league of 10 divisions, 20 teams
each. Formal cups are also soon to be
introduced.
Check the the re-org forum, they tell you
the criteria to be used in placing your
team in a new league and div. So it'll
be more equal to the other teams in you
div at least. or go to groups.msn.com/itsagoal
and ask questions there. There's also a
write up on the re-org on the msn group
site.
For me at least, this game is super addictive:
games/ticks each night, seasons take 2
months, and definitely challenging (or at
least it is 1.5 months in). There are
12,000 managers supposedly, so there
definitely is competition out there.
Outta the bunch of Hattrick, Sunday League,
True Manager, and SoccerSim, this is definitely
my fav (and the only one I've continued with).
And it's free.

I was pretty disappointed that the division re-org didn't occur this time. I'm pretty sure my team could finish in the top three without me ever checking in on them all season. I was on vacation all week and we still picked up 13 of 15 points. I know this is free and all, but this one is definitely sliding off of my radar screen, I spend about one minute here for every 10 minutes I spend on Hattrick and WES.

I log in every morning to update my training and switch my roster, and check to see if I need new advertisers.
That's it. With lag it might take about 5 minutes, max.
There's no way I'd apply for a job in a higher division yet, since my current club is the one I founded and I've built them up nicely. My manger rating should drop below 900 this week (I think I was 901 this morning), so I'm sure if the re-org ever does happen I'll be up near the top of a league. 40k seats and 7 mil in the bank, 3 consecutive division championships and in 2nd right now (by a point, to the team that finished 2nd with me last season).

I never really liked Its A Goal.
Nowhere near as good as SoccerSim, or even Managerzone.
