thank god carr is gone.

and imo, both mayoral canidates are severely underqualified and it'll be a long 4 years for the city regardless of the outcome there.

For statewide results see the following link

Some odd results as far as I am concerned.

Agreed. If Pete Holmes lives up to his campaign promises, we should see some great reforms in the city attorney's office.

The mayor's race tightened up in the days after the election, but McGinn is pulling away now. http://seattletimes.nwsource.com/html/politics/2010220188_webmayorvote07m.html

Well, one thing that will probably come out of the mayor's race is that there will probably be a new law in regards to when mail-in ballots will be due. When election results started coming out at 8pm showing that the race was going to be close, McGinn's campaign fired up the robo-dialer and called his phone list telling his supporters that if they hadn't voted yet, to make sure they get to a post office and turn in their ballots.

Mallahan concedes. McGinn is officially mayor-elect and will take office January 1, 2010.

God help us all.

(To be fair, I'd be saying the same if Mallahan won. But kudos to McGinn for devising a get-out-the-barista-vote strategy, even if the magic unicorns don't end up building dedicated bike paths where the freeways used to be and light-rail service to everywhere like he promised.)

the thing i don't like about mcginn, is that he's already a liar, and hasn't even taken office yet. i mean, he ran his entire campaign as "against the tunnel", then right before the election, when most mail-in ballots had been cast already, he flip flops and is now "for the tunnel". if this is what we can expect from him, seam is right, God help us all!

That's not entirely correct. McGinn admitted there isn't a whole lot he can do about the tunnel. (Other people have been trying to say that for months but no one would listen.)

But that didn't stop him from mailing "vote for me if you don't like the tunnel, big dig big dig big dig*" flyers after he admitted the tunnel would be going through.

*Anyone who uses the words "big dig" in conjunction with this tunnel shouldn't be allowed near a position of power in the first place. It's like claiming you can be be trampled by dogs because elephants have trampled people and they both have four legs.
