PEDANT!
Seriously, you're right. It is just that it is a great stadium with some tradition.

Yeah, i'd have to agree with West Ham being the biggest London club outside the Prem. Until a few years ago, support wise, i would have put them on a par with Chelsea, but with all the money being pumped into Chelsea they're going to pick up a few more fans along the way. With West Ham it's not just the east end that follows them but most of the county of Essex!!
This is how i see the most popular outside the Prem:
1. West Ham United
2. Q.P.R.
3. Millwall
4. Brentford
5. Leyton Orient
6. Barnet (i know they are non-league, but not for long!)
A mention should go to A.F.C. Wimbledon aswell, who are getting crowds of 4,000 in some non-league backwater.
How i see it for the whole of London including Prem:
1. Arsenal
2. Tottenham Hotspur
3. Chelsea
4. West Ham United
Now this is where it gets tough!
5. Charlton
6. Q.P.R.
7. Crystal Palace
8. Millwall
9. Fulham
10. Brentford
11. Leyton Orient
12. Barnet
This isn't based on attendences, but how popular they are. No doubt people will not agree with me!!

3. Chelsea
What is your guess...how big is the gap between Arsenal/Tottenham and Tottenham/Chelsea? Thx

Well a few years back i wouldn't have put much of a gap between Arsenal and Spurs when it came to popularity, as anywhere you went in England you would always come across their shirts. But with the success Arsenal have had over the last ten to fifteen years their support has grown bigger with young kids seeing them winning alot of trophies and the media coverage it brings, and wanting to support them. Same goes for Chelsea now, who have always had a big support, but with all the money being pumped into them, you do see more and more little kids now wearing Chelsea shirts. So Chelsea now aren't very far behind Spurs now in terms of popularity. The reason for Spurs popularity is because of the long history and success in the past(very much the past as it happens!)
The mancs are still without doubt the most popular (and hated!) in the country, with Arsenal pushing Liverpool in second. Then the next tier of teams would probably be Spurs, Chelsea, Newcastle and Leeds

West Ham, by a mile. They are only beaten, in terms of crowds, by Arsenal, and when in the PL can expect the same sort of crowds as Spurs and Chelsea. They would as a PL team, be much bigger than Palace, Fulham and Charlton. They only have one drawback and that is a totally incompetant board of directors. The current England squad is full of ex West Ham players. They also have, along with Manchester United, probably the best youth coaching system in the UK.
Well said. Brown OUT!
