Will bright's hope and dream of seattle being the only NW team so they don't share the glory with portland and vancouver come true? Will he be happy if there are only two NW teams, and share with only Vancouver?

I for one hope he's disappointed and the Portland Timbres live and cause heartache to Seattle starting in 2011?

You are an idiot.;) Obviously you've never read one of bright's posts. While he may be OCD about Portland, he has always looked forward to them joining the league and said that the PNW rivalries will be the best in MLS.

Although, I do like how you are even questioning whether or not you hope he'll be disappointed and that the Timbers will join MLS. Definitely adds to the total idiot effect you have going on.

thank you very much... now I'm a total Portland Fan and hope they destroy you when they come in.... the best way will be to knock you out of the playffs in stoppage time short handed in the holy land (seattle) ...

Obviously you don't know anything about Portland's history.;) More often then not they are the whipping boy in the PNW rivalry, but hey, glad I could get them one more fan.

You definitely have your assumptions wrong. Bright is not hoping for Portland to miss out on MLS. Hell, it seems like he spends every waking hour scouring the internet for information about our bid, our stadium, certain Timbers supporters, ACES, whathaveyou... and commenting all over the internet under one of his various sock puppets (Bright/PortlandLover/Annie/Mason Adair) about it.

If we lose our bid (which isn't going to happen) none of his research/stalking will be of interest, so what the hell would he do with himself otherwise?

The best day in the history of Big Soccer will be Opening Day 2011, because we'll be done with having to endure those posts he makes about Portland's MLS bid/PGE Park Renovation.

you obviously don't know your soccer history. when has portland EVER caused seattle heartache? exactly NEVER! in fact, most seattle fans can't wait for portscum to come to the big leagues, because it's a guaranteed 6 points every year for sounders fc.

Which is why the Whitecaps are the Sounders' natural rivals. Being older than many MLS Sounder fans, I remember this being true in the NASL.

1975 NASL Quarterfinals.

And never faced Portland in the postseason again (Portland only qualified four times).

Vancouver and Seattle were perennial playoff contenders, and tangled three times, with Seattle winning each time. The record for the largest Canadian soccer attendance was for Sounders/Whitecaps in 1983.

Portland vs. Seattle soccer rivalry more friendly back in NASL days (http://seattletimes.nwsource.com/html/sounders/2009402928_sounders01.html)

"There was a huge rivalry with Portland, but [games with Vancouver] had that little bit of extra flair," Schmetzer said. "It was a little bit bigger with the Whitecaps, but not for any particular reason."

The Once & Future Vancouver Whitecaps and Seattle Sounders (http://www.insidesocal.com/soccer/2009/03/the-once-future-vancouver-whit.html)

"The more than 33,000 in attendance at the 1980 game - Seattle's second highest announced crowd of the regular season - did their best to fill the half-full indoor Kingdome with chants and waving flags. I recall singing Whitecaps fans marching through the streets of Pioneer Square en masse - as Sounders fans will do this season albeit behind a marching band - in a show of passion I hadn't seen since England."

Portland has quite the opportunity in MLS to put their stamp on the region . Vancouver fans as of late have not been anything like their early 80's brethren. I have to admit seeing the Whitecaps fans roll into Seattle in force was a sight when i was going to Sounders games in High school.
