That's part of the magic of football. The underdog/minnow can actually win.
As an example, a team with 10% possession and no shots (the winning goal was an own goal) may win having 10 balls in its post, 10 incredible savings by its goalie and other 10 incredible misses (including 2 pk's).

I was not talking about Greece. BTW, I always root for the minnows, not only in Euro 2004, but in third division leagues everywhere. Both Portugal and Greece were minnows, when compared to Italy, Germany, France, England and others.

In football anything can happen. It's not like tennis, basketball or volleyball, where the number of points is so huge that a single save or miss often makes no difference. That's the magic I'm talking about.

I don't think Germany were favored over Portugal. Portugal weren't underdogs at all, when you look at the last Euro tournament in 2000 Portugal was more successful than Germany. Plus Portugal had home advantage.

England couldn't be a favorite either. They have never even reached a final ... not to say won a title outside their borders. :D
